Great Resort!

A very well kept property. The unit was clean and we had no complaints. The pool area is maintained constantly. A fun place!

Convenient Location to Beach & Cute Condo

Condo was clean with a beach themed decor. Lots of tv channels. Comfortable couch. Stocked with kitchen tools but only one roll of paper towels and two rolls of toilet paper. Queen Bed was comfortable. Free bike rentals were a plus. Beach chairs and umbrella were available. Host was timely with replies to our questions. I wish checkout was at 11am and not 10am. The only two things that I have a comment about is the lack of outside water showers or hoses at the resort to rinse off the beach sand. Each condo posts to remove sand before entering condo but there was nothing conveniently located at each building nor noted on the info paper at the condo as to where to rinse off at. We finally saw one on the last day we were there but it was on the other side of the resort. The other item was that the back boat dock area smelled extremely fishy like the smell that comes from red tide. I understand it is a fishing pier but the smell is awful making it hard to enjoy sitting out there. These two comments are directed at the resort itself and not our condo rental. Lots of places to dine at and John’s pass is in driving distance.

Good value for your buck.

The property was great. Pool was nice but the "key" didn't work because you needed a code. Beach was walking distance less than 5 minutes away. Beach had a lot of shells. More shells than sand. 7 minutes from a great pizza place and convenient store. There wasn't much of a section of souvenirs (aka beach stores). The one that was there was super expensive. Condo was nice. THE BED WAS AWFUL!!!! It was like sleeping on paper machete on a the title floor. We needed up using our air mattress that I had brought for 18.00$. The bathroom door didn't lock. Pull out couch bed was like you were sleeping on springs. There was beach stuff however the umbrella didn't work. Seemed like the air filter needed to be changed. Plenty of towels and kitchenware.

Great vacation

Only issue was the red tide. No fault of property. Dead fish everywhere. Nasty smells on beach. Not able to use beach at all. We just made the best of it under circumstances beyond anyone’s control. Property was beautiful. Accommodations outstanding.

Large and cheery condo in perfect location, but a little dirty

All the wonderful things first: • Lots of space • Tastefully decorated • Bathroom and refrigerator were very clean • AC was easy to adjust and quiet • Room came with beach chairs, towels and umbrella • Great location on the intercoastal to watch dolphins, boats, and birds and right across the street from the beach • Walking distance to great coffee shop and other restaurants, next door to one of best mini-golf I’ve ever been to; trolley stop is right next to the property • Each building has a laundry room • We were upgraded at no cost to a waterfront room (intercoastal) Not-so-wonderful: • The floors were filthy, our feet were black and had sand glued to them within 5 minutes walking around to unpack • There were food crumbs on the floor next to the bed in the bedroom, and lots of crumbs inside the pullout sofa in living room, and whole goldfish crackers behind and under the sofa • Kitchen faucet was falling apart but still usable • Glasses and plates were very clean, but pots and pans weren’t cleaned well and were just thrown all over the place in the cabinets (there was a note warning us ahead of time though that they couldn’t guarantee spotless dishes, since it is up to renters to wash them; we just rewashed before using them) • Room came with a fishing rod, which my 12 year old son was really excited to use on the dock behind the unit, but it was snarled with the worst birds nest of fishing line I’ve ever seen and we gave up trying to unsnarl; if it had been usable that would have been a great addition to the room • Since the room slept 4 (one bedroom and one sofa bed), it would have been ideal to have 4 chairs and 4 towels, or at least 4 beach towels, but it only came with 2 each I would stay here again, knowing my feet will be dirty the entire time. It is still worth it for the great location and the huge amount of space your family can spread out in. The beach sand is very fine and powdery so I understand it is difficult to clean all of it, but the crumbs on the floor and sofa bed were pretty gross.

Lovely Resort w Great Amenities, but the unit itself was meh

Barefoot Beach Resort was a very nice, family friendly property. Everyone staying seemed respectful and kept the grounds tidy. The pool was very nice. All in all, we had a nice time. The issues were with the unit we actually stayed in. First, since it is listed on VBRO by a property management company and not the actual owners of the unit, I couldn't get specific questions answered. They would only quote the listing back to me. So in case anyone else is wondering, yes, there are two chairs and an umbrella in the unit which you can bring to the beach, and no, there are no sand toys to bring to the beach (at least not in the unit we stayed in). Secondly, there were some things in the unit which if improved upon (and none of them are expensive fixes), would have made it great. The unit we stayed in smelled of stale cigarettes - like someone has smoked in it for decades. Probably needs a new coat of paint to get rid of the smell. We ended up not noticing after a while, but our things all smelled when we got home. Beyond that, it was a matter of small conveniences. The kitchen faucet leaked, the bathroom faucet was just in terrible shape, the headboard on the bed was loose, there was no towel hook for a hand towel in the bathroom. There just generally were not enough places to hang wet things. Four people come back from the beach with wet suits and towels, all of whom now need to shower, and there is only one hook in the bathroom. Lastly, you could literally feel the shape of the springs through the mattress on the pull out bed. My kids didn't mind, but I would not subject an adult to a night's sleep on it, just an FYI. I struggled with what to write in this review, because again, the resort itself had everything we wanted (though a balcony would've made it perfect), and I'd likely stay there again but in a unit that had an outdoor space on the main level. Everyone who worked there was also very friendly. It was just that our unit needed some help.
