Die Kabinen im Lazy Buffalo wurden im Juli 2019 neu gebaut und sind offiziell eröffnet.

14 Schlafplätze, 4 Kabinen mit dem Motto, die Essenz der Wichita-Berge einzufangen. Jede Kabine hat eine begehbare geflieste Dusche. In jeder der geräumigen Kabinen werden Scheunenholz, Zirbenholz und Wellblech verwendet. Dunkel gebeizte Betonböden und Zinndecken sorgen für eine rustikale und doch elegante Atmosphäre. Genießen Sie den Sonnenuntergang von der langen überdachten Veranda aus, während Sie in den hölzernen Schaukeln entspannen. Wir freuen uns auch über unseren neuesten Pavillon mit Picknicktisch und Holzkohlegrill.

The Lazy Buffalo was certainly unique in its decor of the Refuge and bison (buffalo). It had some fine Western art pieces, books, and everything buffalo. It added to the fun and relaxation of a very satisfactory experience. It was convenient to the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.

Great Property, even better hosts!

We had a group of 14 stay for four nights here. This was our first time in this location and we can’t wait to come back. The property is beautiful, clean, and has everything you need. Great location off the highway, close to Medicine Park and Lawton. The cabins are wonderful and worth a visit anytime you are in the area. The owners are fantastic and so hospitable. They were very responsive and went above and beyond for our group. Thank you Larry and Julie!

We had a group ranging from 1 to 62. The rooms were nice and quiet. The kids had fun with all the games around the place. We roasted marshmallows around the fire pit and cooked out burgers. We also rented the venue to have our Christmas. The only thing I would have changed was warmer weather. It was kind of cold to hang outside.

Fun place to stay

The cabins we're clean and creativity decorated in rustic charm. It is close to the Wichita Wildlife refuge, and about a 15 minute drive from Lawton. The porch with chairs were welcome since it was a family reunion. The only problem we had was the faucets were hard to turn off completely in the sink. The refuge has amazing hikes, and Medicine Park nearby is a fun place to visit. The plantation restaurant on Medicine Park was out favorite eatery, but Lil Mama in Cahe is a great place for breakfast.

Hiking Vacation

Our family rented 5 of the approximately 12 cabins on site. The 5 cabins worked out great, but we didn't realize that we'd be sharing the property with several other families. But we didn't realize that there were any cabins on site besides the 5 we had rented. We thought that we were renting the entire property! The other families had lots of small children that were misbehaving and the parents dealt with this by yelling at them while they monopolized the common shared areas (fire pit and grill). We really couldn't enjoy these areas for several days and felt we had been betrayed. Seven people from our family had carefully reviewed the online photos and descriptions and picked this property from several other finalists. None of us had any idea that there were any other cabins on the property until we pulled into the parking lot! We thought we were renting the entire property. Everything else worked as advertised, but we certainly would have made a different choice with our money if we had realized what we were really getting.

We are sorry that you didn't realize that there are other Cabins on the property. Your reservation was for the 5 original Cabins and we have expanded over the years. I read over the description and we do disclose that we offer 13 cabins and the other Cabins and Bunkhouse can be added to the reservation for a fee. It's listed under "NEED MORE SPACE?" and it's part of the main description but is down at the bottom. We don't want to be misleading at all, a vacation is suppose to be a relaxing, memorable adventure so I have moved that information up in the listing description in hopes not to mislead future guests. We do host lots of families and have outdoor recreation especially for families and groups in mind. Your visit was during Spring Break for school so I'm sure the kids were extra excited to be out and about. I do appreciate you letting us know so I could review the description and move that information up in the description. I'm sorry that you were not able to utilize the outdoor activities.

Our Girl Scout troop came and stayed for the weekend we had seven adults and seven kids it was absolutely amazing the girls had so much fun. The property was nice and had everything we needed right there. Super close to Medicine Park, was able to go and see buffaloes and go into town. Would definitely recommend this property.

Perfect Getaway

These 5 separate cabins were perfect for my family! They were nicely decorated and clean! We had the perfect amount of space for everyone. The fire pit area was nice and had all we needed. The grass area was great for the kiddos to play with their slip n slide and pool! The communication between us and the owners was always easy. We have lived in Southwest Oklahoma for over 60 years and love our hometown of Cache. The Wichita Mountains are right in our backyard, and we get to enjoy their beauty every day.

In 2019, The Lazy Buffalo opened with 5 vacation rental Cabins. These Cabins were designed to capture the essence of the Wichita Mountains and the history of our hometown. In 2021, the Venue with Bunkhouse opened, and we carried over the same western vibe when designing the 2400 square foot space. Throughout 2022 and 2023, we opened 6 more Cabins and in late 2023 our first set of pet friendly Cabins opened.

Conveniently connected by sidewalks, it's just a short stroll being the bunkhouse, our Cabins, and 24 hour guest laundry. All together, we can accommodate up to 49 guests among the 13 Cabins and Bunkhouse.

We are blessed to be family owned and managed. Our favorite thing about hosting is seeing multi-generation Families gathered around sharing quality time together. Should you need anything, our home is only 2 blocks from the Cabins. We hope you make wonderful memories while being our guest at The Lazy Buffalo.

CACHE - our hometown
Dine in at a local cafe or order fast food to enjoy at our outdoor pavilion. Wahlburgers, the first one on Oklahoma is located just across the highway inside the casino. This burger restaurant is family friendly.

The Cache City Park has a Pickleball Court with lights. Kids will enjoy the splash pad (open Summer) & playground equipment. The park features a paved trail and has kids bikes available for use.

For those that like to hit the slots, the Comanche Cache Casino is now open and has over 300 games. Casino is ages 18 and up and is non-smoking.

For history enthusiasts, Quanah Parker’s Star House is nearby. The two story home is known for its distinctive wraparound porch with large white stars adoring the roof. Many tales of the famous outlaws Belle Starr and Jesse James were rumored to have roamed our area. Will you be the one to find their hidden loot?

WICHITA MOUNTAINS WILDLIFE REFUGE – 3 miles
The Wildlife refuge spans 59000 acres and home to free range buffalo, longhorn cattle, and other species. Stop at the Visitor Center for a wealth of information on all the Refuge attractions including the Holy City, Quanah Parker Lake, parallel forest, forty-foot hole, and Charon’s garden trail.

Take a scenic drive to Meers, a town known for its gold rush days. America’s cobblestone community, Medicine Park, is just past Mount Scott.

LAWTON - 10 to 20 minutes
Lawton is a bigger city and has activities such as casinos, iMax Movie Theater, shopping, and restaurants. Walmart, Academy, and Target are a short drive up the highway.

FORT SILL – 20 minutes
Fort Sill is the last remaining active military post that was built during the Indian war and is home to the US Army's Field Artillery. The prominent Native American leader of the Chiricahua Apache, Geronimo, is buried at the Fort Sill Cemetery.
