Holiday Bliss

Amazing views of the ocean from the lovely infinity pool. Great location just outside town and a beautiful place to unwind. The owners were very accommodating and allowed us to check in early and out late. Would stay here again.

Awesome Bamboo House

Fiji Beach Shack!!

As an active family of 5, this was an ideal place for us. The ocean was incredible, snorkeling just below the house was easy and beautiful. We had plenty of space, the pool was definitely a huge plus and we were close to town and to the Cousteau Resort where we went scuba diving daily. We had a great trip and would definitely stay here again.

Spectacular snorkeling right off out beach at the split rock! Gracies road kitchen is amazing food. Some internet difficulties. We absolutely loved it! We happily stay again!

Beautiful Home & Spectacular Views

The home is beautifully presented, and has almost everything you need for your stay. The views of Savusavu bay from the verandah is simply magnificent. Relaxing in the Salt water Infinity Pool looking out to the sunset was breathtaking. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the House of Bamboo. Thank you to our host, Bruce was a wonderful experience.

Wonderful immediate area & town

Loved the property. Top of hill location. Host helped with luggage, but will need to walk up 100 steps.... Health 57 &60 year olds, we handled the stairs fine. Property and views well worth it, extremely private as well. Best snorkeling in the area right on sight as well! Hosts were great and helped with any need.

Ok so here’s the dealThe 100 steps are very difficult to navigate if you have any issues with arthritis or knee troubles.Cecil was very helpful in taking up luggage and bringing it down at the end of our stay.The entry into the pool is again very difficult if one has knee issues and a hand rail would be a great enhancement The decking by the pool has a number of loose boards that can cause issues if not noticed.A note should be given to visitors to not leave any food on the counters as ants arrive from nowhere in hoards.Views amazing Beds niceShower was greatMelania , the in house masseuse, was very pleasant and did a wonderful job

Just WOW!

Fabulous location, beautiful setting, views to die for! Our first stop before traveling to another Fiji destination for our Daughter's wedding! Jolene was the perfect Host for us! Thanks for everything! (PS, they are not kidding about the stairs! Good work out!)

Book it, you won’t regret it! Pictures do not do the house of bamboo justice! We love to travel (Peru, Spain, Turkey, Morocco, Australia, but this has been our favorite spot yet! Views views views! Snorkeling right in front of property. Access to paddle boards, kayaks, and snorkel gear for when we you want to use it. Went out with Bruce on the catamaran (a must!). Yes there are stairs to get to the house, but they aren’t that bad and the views are worth it.

Picture perfect. The pool and house were even better than the pictures. Over the top views.

Bamboo House was worth every step to get there. Bruce and Joliene were responsive and so gracious. This was the start of a year long trip but it will be hard to top Bamboo House. The House was well equipped and the outside space for dining and relaxing was used at all times of day and night. Be sure to have a massage under the bure.

Bamboo paradiseWe thoroughly enjoyed our week at the House of Bamboo. Simon picked us up from the airport and was kind enough to stop in town so we could pick up some groceries. Junior carried our luggage up to the house (sorry about those heavy dive bags). The views were absolutely stunning from the deck and the refreshing salt water pool. Some nights we just didn't want to leave the property so we cooked on the grill those evenings we didn't dine in Savusavu. Appreciated the privacy on top of the hill - well worth the walk up the steps. Already planning our return trip. Thank you Bruce!

Stunning family holiday

The house was perfect for our family of four - 2 adult sons, for us to celebrate a birthday. Spacious, clean, tidy and the most stunning views. The 125 steps from the road were a good work out. The pool was very welcoming when we reached the house! Close enough to town where there were many good options for dining. The management of the property was flawless with Jolene always ready with a smile and super helpful; she really was the icing on the cake for our stay. Great snorkelling across the road from the property. Would definitely stay again.

The view was incredibly peaceful and gorgeous. Check in was a breeze. The kitchen was well stocked for use. That being said, CAVEAT EMPTOR. We had numerous challenges with the electricity and water supply. What that meant, was we were unable to use the kitchen, had to eat out instead of cooking "at home". It meant the Starlink didn't work and we were unable to call out using their provided home phone. And we were unable to bathe in a timely fashion. The property manager claimed we were "looking for an out". As former expats, we understand that there can be challenges to water and electricity, and you roll with it. However, when on a vacation, that is not what you want; 25% of our stay had basic service interruptions. In this case, the challenges were mishandled by the property manager. The local staff were lovely and kind. We wish we had been able to stay for the duration, as this property purported to have all that we would have wanted or needed. Sad to say, this was not our experience.

It’s difficult to put into words how stunning this property is and how well it checked off all the boxes of what we wanted in a vacation getaway. From the privacy and lush vegetation to the incredible ocean views from both the house and private infinity pool we couldn’t have asked for more. Located directly across the street from the ocean we were able to kayak and snorkel right there. The steps to the property were not an issue - in my opinion the view and privacy at the top is so worth the walk up. Jolene the property manager is very personable and friendly and was very helpful and quick to respond to all of our questions and needs during our stay. Overall this property and the island were the highlight of our vacation!

Stunning

Beautiful, spacious home with gracious hosts. We loved our stay at Bamboo House. Simon, who gave us a ride from the airport and showed us around Savusavu, Tuks and Sekony who helped us with our bags up the 100+ stairs to the home, Jolene who met us and gave us the ins and outs of the house, all made us feel so welcome. The beach out front is a little hard to access, especially at low tide, but once you’re in, the snorkeling is magnificent. And the dive shop at the nearby Cousteau resort has surprisingly reasonable rates to go out with the dive boat for even more interesting snorkeling. Definitely go to the waterfall with Simon, and don’t hesitate to take a swim—absolutely delightful. Wish I could say we’ll be back, but even though not likely, we’ll carry a little bit of Fiji in our hearts!

A week in paradise!

Truly the stay of a lifetime! This review may sound over the top, but it's truly difficult to put into words how wonderful our trip was. Firstly, Bruce and his team are fantastic. Before we even arrived, they went out of their way to provide recommendations for activities to do and on what to prepare for to make the stay as comfortable as possible. On arrival, we were picked up and shown around town, which was very helpful, and then given the keys. Throughout our stay, Jolene, one of the team, unobtrusively checked in with us, continuing to provide amazing recommendations. She was lovely, warm and felt like a long time friend. The home itself is a cozy, spacious hideaway in paradise! The photos do not do the place justice, the space was tastefully appointed and entirely private. The outdoor saltwater pool was incredible, second only to naps in the private cabana. Other highlights included drinking morning coffee on the covered deck watching the sunrise on the panoramic ocean view, walking 5 minutes to the beach for some of the best snorkeling in Fiji, and spending hours exploring the coastline with SUPs provided by our hosts. This stay felt like living at a private resort in paradise. Our only regret was not staying longer! Thank you so much Bruce and your team! We'll be back!

The House of Bamboo is truly a paradise here on earth!

A beautiful location plus amazing people and superb accommodations equals pure bliss!! We felt that warm hospitality months before we stepped foot in Fiji, as we began communicating with the owner, Bruce. His love for the island shines through in the care he gives to his property and those who are lucky enough to rent it for a moment in time. The house itself gives you a sense of your own lil' private space on the island, yet the real beauty lies right outside your door. From dips in the infinity pool and endless sunsets to doing morning meditation and yoga on the deck, we found ourselves spending plenty of time just enjoying nature and its breathtaking view. Trekking up and down the stairs each day gave us a sense of adventure whether it was to grab a taxi into town to shop the outdoor market, or to take the SUPs and kayaks across the road to paddle the sea. We also had the opportunity to visit some beautiful villages with our friend, Tia, who gave us the experience an authentic kava ceremony and a swim in a tranquil waterfall. We can honestly say that allowing Kalesi to prepare you an authentic meal, getting a massage from Viri, or just having an afternoon chat with Jolene can bring a smile to your face. Each of these lovely ladies made our stay even brighter than we could have imagined. The House of Bamboo was the perfect getaway for us to really relax, escape...and just enjoy being in love while living life!

Bruce, and groundskeeper Cecil, could not have been any nicer and more responsive to the best of short term fixes they could do.Unfortunately, either VRBO'ers are not leaving reviews on most recent stays (had guest check out the day we arrived and they did not leave a review, at least not yet). If it was a 10 clean in SEPT 2025, it has been neglected since then. The location and grounds are stunning, gorgeous and beautiful. The tropical environment is difficult to keep critters out. We left two days early and should have left many days earlier. Geckos everywhere at night inside and their poop to be found in various places in the morning (counters, my tennis shoes, bedding). Bruce had Cecil spray for them but that only lasted one night (only had one that night), back to 7 the next night. Neither the front door or the back door sealed and anything could come in, and did. I am not going into further details and issues that we had because the intent is not to trash Bruce or the property but someone has to put this out there. Bruce is a super likable guy and I hate having to write this. He did try to do what he could at the time.We did a full walk-around on our final day and I truly think Bruce listened, understood the things that were deficient and plans to address them. The next guest will have a much better experience and I hope the property inside can be brought back to it's glory days!

Dear Debbi, I am sad to see you go. Savusavu is a beautiful nature filled paradise, teeming with life and a tropical paradise, famous the wotld over. Part of the local flora and fauna include house Geckos which occur on all continents (except Antartica). House Geckos are harmless to humans, non venemous and act as natural pest control by eating insect like mosquitos, flies and cockroaches, offering an eco-friendly benfit to homes in tropical climates! Indeed, Pet gecko kits may be purchased on Amazon and are quite popular. Please do not pick the Gecko! We love our Geckos in Fiji. We are so sorry you have had this experience with our Fiji locals.
