Great little cottage with excellent gardens for our dog Lupo to run around. Situated in a perfect place for exploring Fort Augustus and the surrounding areas. Peter , Amanda and Fern were brilliant hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

We have spent a wonderful time in this cozy house. The location is perfect for trips in all directions, on which we saw the Highlands from the northwest (Wester Ross) to the east (Moray) – a recommendation: the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore. We would love to come back one day and get to know this beautiful country with its impressive nature and rich history even better. Lovely little cottage, clean and well equipped.Handy for the village amenities yet far enough away to be peaceful. Great base for exploring the Great Glen which oozes history, legend and beautiful scenery.

Delightfully located little cottage

We enjoyed our stay here a great deal. The position of the cottage is sublime and it is comfortable. The stairs are steep and some ceilings a little low but this is easy to cope with!The garden is beautiful too. There are lots of nearby walks and good places to eat

An outstanding property in an idyllic setting on the Caledonian Canal. Amanda and Peter were superb hosts in every respect, from introduction to the accommodation to suggestions for trips and facilities in Fort Augustus and chatting in the lovely garden as we came and went. Thank you both very much for hosting ourselves and our two Beagles! It was a trip to remember and we would not hesitate to return!

Perfekt holiday in Scotland

Amanda and Peter are so nice and helpful. The Cottage is cosy and so beautiful. Its perfekt for trips to the highlands and around. We had a greatful time there and we will come back again.

Delightful cottageIt was like staying in someone's home, really cosy and comfortable, and a great location, with water on three sides, at the end of a no-through road. Just a short walk into Fort Augustus, a village with all the facilities you need. Peter and Amanda were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. Days out are possible in all directions, so plenty to see and do. We had great three weeks, and would love to return for another visit.

Heaven in Ft Augustus

This is probably our favorite place that we have stayed in many years! The cottage was just beautiful with everything that we needed. The grounds were lovely and close to all the sites we planned to visit. The icing on the cake were the owners, Amanda and Peter. Made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and throughout our stay! Don't miss this one!

A place to fell good

Peter and Amanda are very attentive hosts. The location of the accommodation is brilliant. It is close to Loch Ness and the Caledonian Cannal. The garden is beautiful and can be used with pleasure. From here there are many possibilities to explore the surroundings.

Relaxing in a traditional Scottish cottage

We had a great time in this cozy and well-equipped cottage, which is nestled in a peaceful garden, a great spot to explore the outdoors and see some castles (there are several types of castles within a short distance). Amanda and Peter are very friendly and understanding.

Slice of heaven

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Malt House. Peter and Amanda are gracious and friendly hosts! They chatted with us and gave us several hints on non-touristy places to visit. We were very warmly welcomed in the cottage by Amanda and Peter, who gave us very clear and helpful information about the place itself and the surroundings. They made us feel very much at home straight away. We read the previous comments from other guests to figure out what to do for the few days we were staying in Fort Augustus, and followed Amanda and Peter’s advice on places to eat or to visit.The cottage is very cosy and warm, we felt at home and could very much have stayed here another three weeks, if we could have! Thank you again for letting us live, even for only a few days, in a very special place.
