Cheers!
Peace and Tranquility
The cottage is situated in a very quiet area ideal for exploring west Dorset. It provides more than adequate accommodation for two with a particularly comfortable bed.
The owners could not be more helpful even sharing the produce of their magnificent garden. Extensive views can be enjoyed across rolling countryside to the sea.
The pool is very well maintained and sparkles in the sunlight although strikes a little chilly at this time of year.
The adjoining summerhouse/conservatory provides an ideal place with comfortable chairs to watch the sun go down with a drink in hand!
Quirky character cottage
The cottage provides a good base to explore the area. The pool was a real bonus and the grounds of the house
Cold and basic although located in the corner of a beautiful garden
The owners were very pleasant but we found the cottage quite cold and damp with basic furnishings in the lounge/dining area. We were very disappointed to find the pool out of action, which was the main reason we booked to stay there. Overall the accommodation did not live up to the photos on the website, which gave the impression it was very light and airy with more space.
The pool actually was open from the Saturday until Thursday evening but the client declined to use it. It was not out of condition and clean but was rather cloudy due to a very heavy dose of pollen that I believe arose from the exceptional conditions of prolonged hot weather followed by a short but inadequate burst of rain. Under those conditions the only solution is to apply a flocculating agent and that is why we had to close it with their knowledge on Thursday to allow the pollen to settle for 48 hours.
I think the Evendens were unlucky as there were also some very temporary other problems that I will not go into. This is the first time in 18 years that a combination of events and preferences have combined to produce these kinds of comments that otherwise have always been much the opposite.
Unique and fantastic holiday venue
Fantastic hosts and fantastic accommodation.
Charming, relaxing and beautiful with great pool
An amazing place to stay. Friendly but not imposing owners. A real quirky cottage (loved the door from the bathroom to outside ), beautiful large garden with views of the countryside and distant sea and a lovely pool, perfect for cooling down in the hot weather. Excellent location too, with Lyme Regis, Charmouth, West Bay and Bridport all within easy reach - that’s if you can tear yourself away from the pool!
