Best place we have ever stayed!

  • 5 von 5

This was our first visit to Krakow and it was brilliant. The apartment is extremely spacious and without doubt, well equipped. The furnishings and decor are unbelievable and it is has been a privilege to have been given the opportunity to stay here.

The location could not be any better to look around Krakow. The main square is a brief walk from the apartment and the Kazimierz, the Jewish quarter, is just around the corner. Across the street from the apartment is a 24-hour convenience store and coffee place with many other shops such as bakeries, a wine, beer and liquor store and a couple of large shopping malls within a few minutes walk. The Vistula river is close by with a great walking path adjacent to it.

Paulina, who picked us up from the airport, was super helpful, extremely knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to deal with. She walked us through the entire apartment explaining how to use everything and where everything was stored and, she gave her email address in case anything was amiss and we needed to contact her. She also gave us many tips on where to eat/visit etc. She also picked us up for our return to the airport even though our flight was very early. Paulina was the icing on the cake of a great visit to Krakow, thanks.

All in all, after many many years of travelling, this is the best apartment we have ever stayed in and we look forward to a return to Krakow and this apartment in particular in the not too distant future. We definitely recommend this apartment on your visit to Krakow.

Great location and everything needed was supplied. Milk, water, salt, washing up liquid appreciated.

  • 5 von 5

Appartment furnished in traditional way but bathrooms and kitchens modern. Top floor not a problem for us. A little bit noisy early morning with trams but only 1 of our group affected as she lives in a very quiet location normally. Wouldn't be an issue for most. Krakow old town is not too big but location was fantastic. 5 minutes walk to main square. All night grocery and nice breakfast/ coffee shop across road.

We did not see owner but she left great recommendations for restaurants etc and Paulina who picked us up at airport was delightful. She gave us lots of info and pointed out lots of points of interest. Would recommend taking the option for Paulina to meet you at airport.

We ate out all the time as restaurants and bars were incredibly cheap. Meal and wine typically £10 or less. Loved the Polish food.

We visit Auschwitz, harrowing but a must. I found the Salt mines overrated although my friends liked it. Walking tour of Jewish Quarter was fabulous. Lots of links to Schindlers List but the factory tour is just a recap of what we learned so wouldn't recommend both.

Great location for history buffs but also lots of lovely buildings, churches etc and although we didn't go to any concerts due to time restrictions, there is loads for classical music lovers. Would thouroughly recommend Krakow and the apartment.

Excellent location, apartment and support

  • 5 von 5

This was my first visit to Krakow and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. The location is ideal to Tour around Krakow. The Main Square is a short and enjoyable walk. The Jewish Quarter is also an easy walk. I ventured to Schindlers Factory and the Jewish Ghetto. It seemed like a long walk on the map but it was pretty easy. I stopped by the Galleria which is a lovely shopping mall on my walk back.

Across the street from the apartment is a 24-hour convenience store across the street, a cozy coffee house and a train and bus stop.

Paulina was extremely helpful and was complete pleasure to deal with. She met me at the airport and walked me threw the entire apartment. She also gave me a number of good tips on where to eat. The ones that I did try were terrific. She was also very helpful in arranging a ride to Auschwitz. She made it very easy returning to the airport on my last day.

I hope to return to Krakow some day and will definitely stay at this apartment.

Beautiful, convenient, centrally located apartment

  • 5 von 5

What beautiful and attractive apartment - built in 1893 - this is! It's exactly like it is on the photo's and very spacious (high ceilings) and very clean. I stayed here with my mother (76) and she could walk the stairs to the third floor with relative ease. The large balcony at the back was a welcome addition to the apartment during the very warm september days we spent in Krakow: we started and finished our days there looking at the two large chestnut trees in the - very quiet - backyard. The apartment has all the comfort and necessities we needed.

The location is perfect: just in between the old city (10 minutes walk) and the old Jewish neighbourhood Kazimierz just around the corner, where we found plenty of eateries including the wonderful Polish restaurant Kuchnia u Doroty.

Paulina is a lovely and intelligent host. She picked us up from and returned us to the airport perfectly on time; she gave lots of interesting information about the city and its inhabitants and she was so kind to arrange an early morning taxi for us to the busstation (for a daytrip to Auschwitz) when my phone didn't work. This was my first visit to Poland and Paulina helped to make my first impressions very pleasant.

Thank you Margaret for letting us stay in your apartment and I will certainly recommend it to family and friends. I hope to stay with you again on my next visit to Krakow!

Vermieter-Kommentar: Hello, What can I say, except to thank you warmly for your review. After I bought the appartment four years ago I put quite a bit of effort to make it look as if it were lived by its original owners, my own family, for example. If you ever come back to Cracow again you are very welcome to stay in. With best wishes and regards, Margaret M.Rubel

A Taste of History

  • 4 von 5

This is a very large, very beautiful and well appointed apartment, ideally situated in the heart of old Kraków. It is close to the Planty, Old Town, the State Archives (a rich resource for historical and genealogy research), and the former Jewish district of Kazimierz. Everything we wanted to see was within a 20-minute walk, and most was within 10. There are abundant convenience stores, coffee shops, restaurants, pharmacies and bakeries nearby. Paulina, the apartment manager, is very sweet and helpful, is fluent in English, and responded quickly to all requests.

As previous reviewers have noted, the apartment is beautifully decorated with period furniture that fits well in the vast, high-ceilinged rooms. One bedroom has a king-sized bed; the other (in what might once have been a living/dining room -- the apartments in the building appear to have been reconfigured) has two twin-sized settees. The kitchen and baths are updated and are equipped with everything you need. The main bath has a bathtub with a hand shower. (During our stay the main bath smelled mildewy, and Paulina said she would check into it right away.) If you need maps, guide books, or books about local history, they are provided in the library and study.

There are a few things to know before you decide on this rental. The apartment is a top-floor walk-up (no elevator). Paulina will help you with your bags, and the stairs are shallow, but there are many of them. (This was not a problem for us, and we are 59 and 65 years old, but it might be a hardship for some.) Also, the bedroom windows face onto the beautiful but busy boulevard. The streetcars run all night, and partyers are out on weekend nights. If you close the windows it will be quiet but can be hot (there is no air conditioning and no fans); if you open the windows it will be cool but if you sleep poorly with street noise, your sleep might be disrupted even with ear plugs.

With these cautions in mind, I was very happy with this apartment. It was a very good value and, more importantly for me, felt like a step back in time to the days when my own family lived in this neighborhood. I would gladly stay there again.
