A great trip with friends

I was thrilled with the stay and my friends enjoyed their stay as well. The view from the porch looks exactly like the picture and it was perfect for a morning cup of coffee with friends. I am definitely booking again next year!

Great Place With A Great View

Perfect location and pet friendly. Walked everywhere. Great beach and easy walk to Asbury Park. Loved the balcony view. So breezy even on a hot day. Owners very nice and accommodating.

Lovely stay in Ocean Grove, June 2021

We had a really lovely time at this property. Its best features are its proximity to the beach and that wonderful balcony with its ocean view and wonderful breezes. John and Jane were very responsive and made sure we knew they were available if we had any problems at all. We hope to return next summer.

Great Location

The location is outstanding and the views of the lake and ocean are excellent. Easy walk to the Ocean Grove Beach and board walk. 10 minute walk to Asbury Park beach. The porch, with the view, was such a great place to unwind after the beach. Lots of restaurants nearby. The apt. was well equipped and the futon worked great for my adult son who came last minute. AC worked excellent as it was a very hot week. Looking forward to another stay.

Great location, property could use some TLC!

The location is definitely the best feature of this property! The beds were comfortable; the decor was cheerful and comfortable; and the owners were very nice - although we were a bit taken aback when one entered the unit shortly after our arrival without a mask and without maintaining distance. WiFi only works in half the apartment and is spotty in the other half. The modem and router seem to be located off site, but the signal is not reliable enough for remote working or virtual learning. The apartment was mostly clean when we arrived although ceiling fans and baseboards clearly had not been touched in a while and we found an unwashed, crusty broiler pan in the oven. The bathroom and kitchen need renovating; appliances are old, rusty, and quirky; paint is peeling; and some floor tiles are broken. The stove doesn’t cook evenly, and the freezer door pops open every time the fridge door is open or closed. The kitchen lacks some basics, ie cutting board, baking sheet, vegetable peeler. The bathroom sink runs non-stop with a steady trickle, and water pressure in the shower is low. Sadly, we were unable to fully enjoy the best feature - the porch and its amazing views -- because a hurricane the previous week had damaged one of the columns and it was no longer strapped to the porch so the corner closest to the ocean and the lake was unsafe.

Hi Alison. We are sorry you were not completely happy with the apartment. It is disappointing though you did not reach out to us as we were always in text contact and we live next door. We could have addressed your concerns in real time including having the cleaning service return if you were not completely satisfied and we have three different routers in the house that service that apartment so I simply could have given you a different one to use as we have had several guests teaching or learning remotely during their stay. Sorry about the hurricane that came through a few days before but safety always comes first for us and our contractor was difficult to get during your short stay. It was nice meeting you. Be well.

A magical getway!

I cannot rave enough about my experience! The owners could not be more kind or attentive, and the place was immaculate and even BETTER than advertised. It was beautifully decorated, impeccably cleaned and very comfortable. Waking up to the ocean breeze and seeing the views of the ocean from my cozy bedroom, as well as my kitchen and outside deck was incredibly peaceful. The layout of the space was perfect, and my guests raved about it as well. I spent most of my time on the outside deck with a coffee and the view. There was a tennis court and shuffleboard right across the street next to a pretty lake. The entire town is historical and charming, and best of all I was located one block from the gorgeous beach and start of the boardwalk. Even being a New Yorker without a car, it was also an easy five minute stroll to the quaint Main Avenue, where there are lots of cool shops, restaurants, and the famous cheese store! Plenty to see and do, including the "tents" in town and the famous wood auditorium. The Purple Zebra is also a landmark sought-after unique store that is owned by the husband and wife rental owners, whose wife's family has been in Ocean Grove for generations and who is well liked and could be the mayor of the town! They own several properties in Ocean Grove, and they both clearly take pride in their buildings and community. It is also an easy twenty minute walk via the bridge or via the boardwalk to Asbury Park if you are looking for nightlife, concerts or bars (Ocean Grove is a dry town), but Ocean Grove and the rental will not disappoint. As an aside, I own a big, lovable yellow lab retriever, and it is such a dog-friendly town as well! I met so many nice people just sitting outside having breakfast with the dog or walking him through town, and my dog also loved chilling on the outside porch. As you can tell by my review, the experience exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to go back!

A beautiful relaxing week at the beach

Loved everything about this rental- the location, the decor, and especially the private deck! We found ourselves spending lots of time up there relaxing and just enjoying the beautiful views. Jane and John were great! Very informative about the surrounding area, and right next door to answer any questions/give recommendations to any questions we may have had. Location was great- so close to beach/boardwalk, Main Street, and restaurants in Asbury Park. Would definitely rent this property again!

Beautiful Views and Beach Access

The house is beautifully decorated and has amazing views of the ocean and lake. The architecture is gorgeous. The beds could have been more comfortable, but the owner is aware and rectifying the situation. He was very friendly and prompt in taking care of any needs that came up. Parking was super easy and since most of our dining out and entertainment took place in Asbury Park, we Ubered most of the time. Besides the beds, the only other thing, which keeps me from giving a 5 star rating is that the kitchen was not really fully equipped. If you are not a cook, there are lots of apps, etc that can deliver food to that location.
