4/10 – Mangelhaft

Rereading all these great reviews and wondering if we stayed in the same place. It has some charm but also needs a lot of work. I've rented in Provincetown for decades so I don't expect luxury for this price, but the photos in the listing are no longer accurate and make the place look brighter and newer than it really is. The rate for all this space and a pool is what you’d pay for a small one bedroom closer to town, so that’s great, but overall this place is rundown and sad.PROS: Lots of private outdoor space. Gorgeous pool. Nicely stocked kitchen. Big shower. Shared laundry (bring quarters and detergent). Nice, quiet area with a great market on the corner. CONS: Overall disrepair. Bedroom closets are a mess, piled with all kinds of stuff. Air conditioners sloppily installed in the windows with plywood. Guessing the wall units broke and this was a quick fix. Grateful for that, but still. Porch light, shower light and exhaust fan not working. Stale musty smell upstairs. Fire detectors went off for no reason twice during the week. The owner was slow to reply to messages through the website, if at all. When he did finally reply he told us to call. By that time it seemed pointless. The place was habitable so we made the most of it.Our stay felt like a friend was doing us a favor by letting us be there, and didn't do much to prepare for our visit. If that was the case we would have been fine, but paying for this place was disappointing.
