Many years ago a young couple bought a thousand acres of land in Texas because God wasn't making any more land. They brought their children up going to the ranch in Bastrop, Texas where they explored the creek, tended the cows, rode horses and raised chickens.
As the children got older, one decided to keep her portion of the ranch but others had moved away. Their daughter, Marie, decided to trade her acreage in Texas for a slice of Cayuga Lake. It was her favorite place on earth and for over 20 years she poured her heart and soul into renovating the house to make it more comfortable for guests and she spent as much of her summers there as she could.
In 2021, Marie (known as Mia to her eight grandchildren) tragically lost her life to ovarian cancer and passed the lake house on to her daughter, Debra. Debra and her family continue the tradition of spending summers on the lake and sharing the magic of Mia's Lakehouse with many guests throughout the rental season.
