Look, the house is nice looking, itâs in a central location, and a certain level of wear-and-tear is inevitable on a rental. The beds, linens and towels were all fine. We also thought the appliances were more than adequate. But we paid well over $400 per night all-in, and for that kind of money I expect better amenities and a greater attention to detail. I wish I had known about certain things so that I could have tempered my expectations. Also, I would have brought a lot more kitchen and cooking essentials.
âą Need exterior lighting out by the hot tub. And the hot tub needs a tune up because a bunch of the jets donât work.
âą Fireplace is a sad little flame.
âą The sinks were leaking in two of the bathrooms.
âą No extra storage space in the kitchen for food, so everything just gets stacked on the counter, floor or tables.
âą The kitchen table has these seams in it that are full of crumbs and dried food. It was pretty gross. We tried to clean it up some. A vacuum would have helped but the house doesnât have one.
âą None of the kitchen cabinets and drawers have pulls. Quickly devolves from a âwhat-a-nice-minimalist-Scandinavian-design-choiceâ to âoh-my-god-these-drawers-are-driving-me-crazy!â
âą Without question, the poorest supplied kitchen of any vacation rental Iâve ever stayed at in Sunriver. I donât mean not enough pots and pans (there are plenty of those in the drawers that one needs a pry bar to open). Iâm referring to no plastic wrap, aluminum foil, Ziploc bags, and other essentials that one doesnât think to pack because theyâre always in the rental houses. No spices, oils, vinegars, etc. beyond salt, pepper, and two huge containers of chili powder.
âą Literally, one rocks-style cocktail glass. So, other than the lucky soul who gets that glass, any cocktail will need to be consumed out of a wine glass, a pint glass, or a 20 oz. plastic tumbler (oh, or one Spanish coffee mug).
âą No usable BBQ. Not sure if thatâs a seasonal-related decision or its broken, but it was piled in a corner of the garage. Had to pan-fry steaks and chicken.
âą The TVs are too small and old. Bad picture quality (might be cable-related) and canât stream any of the video services.
âą It snowed while we stayed there, which was super cool! But the snow shovel in the garage was smashed to pieces. Maybe someone ran over it with a car? I donât know. Just letting you know we didnât do it and the house needs a new one.
