The bottom line: we will be back!
The Burts' lake house is in a wonderful location, high atop a Lake Michigan dune, with windows all around to take in the gorgeous views: sunsets, boats cruising through, and tall, lush trees.
Communication with the hosts was great: they were highly responsive and accommodating. The home was equipped with everything we needed, including plenty of towels, linens, and cozy throw blankets.
For a 3-generation group of 5 people, it was the perfect amount of space for us. There are even 2 decks and 2 three-season rooms. I spent many hours in the upper three-season room (with a full view of the lake, comfy chairs, and a ceiling fan), and I miss it already.
The home was clean and tidy, and there were a lot of comfortable spaces for relaxing, reading, watching movies, and chatting with loved ones. The stairs to the beach are numerous and steep, but once you get the hang of it, it's fine. There are beach chairs and towels provided.
The kitchen is spacious, and if you're an aspiring chef, there are double ovens and a countertop range. Three HVAC zones, so everyone will be comfortable. The primary suite is large and comfortable. The public beach is visible from the home's private beach, but the sound does not carry, and other than one day when neighbors were playing in the water, we hardly heard anyone else. We watched many motorboats, pontoons, freighters (one totally lit up at night), and barges cross the water.
A wonderful place to stay!
