We had a great time at the property. Our group of 11 adults and 10 kids had plenty of space to enjoy the house. Its one of the best houses we have stayed in (we do this every thanksgiving). The house was already lit up and heated when we walked in. Also it was extremely clean. One minor issue we had was with living room lights. We couldnt turn on one set of lights. I sent message to vacasa who replied back saying that someone will reach out to me about it but I never heard back.

Sunday River Family Thanksgiving

Perfect house for a large 3 generations group. Everyone had space to relax. Many fun amenities, including dining table to fit everyone, 2 gas fireplaces, fabulous kitchen with island for preparation. Kids loved the basement hangout area and hot tub. Beautiful view, couldn't ask for better. Easy access to woods walk with views. Would have preferred an hour later check out time with a large group packing up on a Sunday morning with likely no one coming in after... Asked, though turned down on 2 small requests. Minor housekeeping stuff. Bedrooms should all have shades. Not having the 2nd dishwasher working on Thanksgiving was tricky, though we made due. All in all an excellent place to stay!

The house is beautiful. It had everything we needed for a large family. My main issue is with the hosting company Vacasa. Upon arrival, the house was not cleaned at all. The house cleaner had just arrived and told us they were not expecting guests. I called Vacasa and was told there was a mistake and they would have the local management company contact me. Nobody ever responded. I also sent a message to them and was told the same thing. I was forced to take my entire family including my aging parents and small children to a local restaurant to wait out the time. This was incredibly inconvenient as we had all travels a very long distance but I understand mistakes happen. When we returned the house cleaner had called for back up and they had the house cleaned that evening. The host company never returned my calls or messages. We had several issues with the home including an AC unit that wouldn’t shut off and very dirty water in the hot tub. The host company was unavailable to address both of these issues. The house is beautiful and we had a great time but for the cost of this home, the management communication was the worst I’ve ever experienced. I would not recommend staying here. I’m hoping that someone will see this review and contact me as I still haven’t heard anything from them addressing my concerns.

Water Doesn’t Work Throughout House

Unfortunately the water at this house rarely works. When you turn on a sink, shower or even flush the toilet the water rarely works. This isn’t just being fussy about water pressure, the water literally doesn’t flow. On Sunday when we woke up it was so bad, no one could shower or brush their teeth before checking out. We reached out to property manager through the the weekend and the most disappointing part is they know this house has this issue (see other reviews). They sent a technician out 3 times and had “fixes” but none of them worked. They really shouldn’t be renting this house with this issue. If you have a reservation coming up you should definitely call them and see if they are doing anything to fix this.

Enjoyed the stay

Only suggestion would be to have a folder with helpful info. One of the thermostats was set differently so first mornings were cold. But an hvac tech was called and fixed the problem. And 70 yo couldn’t figure the TV. The kitchen was great, having 2 dishwashers with 14 people was handy. Cousins(9-12) loved bunk room. Everyone enjoyed the pool. Thank you

Amazing getaway

It was incredible - the only issue was that our stay was too short!!! We enjoyed the hot tub, local hikes, cooking in the amazing kitchen, reading and napping by the fire. It was perfect and I hope to go back with family/friends in the near future!!!

Wonderful home!

Our family had a fantastic time at this house! The pool was great with young kids and there's so much to do nearby... hiking, mountain biking, etc. Only complaint is that both washers in the house weren't working very well and probably need to be replaced by the owners.

Great for large families

My family of 12 adults stayed here for Thanksgiving and had a great time. It was spacious with a beautiful view that fit our need perfectly. I would stay here again, but a few things to note- The bathroom with the wooden stall doors is quite awkward and takes a bit of effort to open. I wouldn't plan to put any expectant mothers or elderly on that side of the house due to the toilet doors. When we arrived, the power was out so we had trouble getting in, and the basement heat was not working, but the property manager was very quick to arrive and help. Lastly, the kitchen is very well equipped for cooking holiday meals, but we did have to wash everything we wanted to use because the dishes were not clean. The fireplaces were very cozy and beds were comfortable enough for a short stay- but on the firm side.

September Stay

This house was beautiful and lived up to the reviews and information on the website! We had 11 adults fit comfortably in this house without feeling crowded at all. All the amenities were as advertised and the appliances and electronics were new and state of the art. We did have some audio/visual issues when we checked in but the property manager showed up within minutes and got us up and running! I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in the Sunday River area.

Perfect getaway from everything!

Our family of 14 absolutely loved this property! The pool and hot tub was a favorite for the 7 adults and 7 children ages 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12. The house itself provided ample space for everybody to have their own time and for the children to hangout on their own. The secondary apartment was a plus for the adults to get some work done during the stay. There were some minor things but Eric from the management company was superb. Minor things popped up and he sent people to fix the entertainment system, grill and hot tub within the same day. I couldn't ask for more. Eric is the BEST! Only slight negative was the internet speed is a bit slow... about 7 to 10 maps and connection kept dropping so not ideal for a remote work situation or too many devices. Besides that, this property is awesome. It is well decorated and furnished, spacious and well stocked with cookware and utensils. We can wait to stay again! Again, thank you for such a great stay.

Family reunion

The house had most of what we needed. Well appointed kitchen. Loved the two dishwashers. We ate all our meals at the house. The view was great and the location was great for hiking and golfing. The pool is NOT heated as advertised. There are no window shades in the main room, so we found ourselves hiding from the afternoon summer sun. Otherwise a very nice property which we enjoyed.

Wonderful Stay in Newry Maine

Our family (3 generations) had a blast at this house. The weather was perfect which enabled many a sunny afternoon swim - with plenty of pool toys included. The apartment is beautifully decorated and the main house had all the amenities one would want. The kitchen had a beautiful 6 burner Jenn Air stove, two wine fridges in main house, wet bar, and two tables close enough to have everyone (18) participate in the dinner conversation. The kids bunk room was awesome with 8 bunks all in the classic timber style named after the trails at Sunday River. The hot tub was useful for those of us older folks post hiking, golfing, kayaking and canoeing. Plenty of games for the kids and the downstairs TV room was awesome for watching the YANKEE games and playing Nintendo. Foosball table and electric keyboard were nice touches. Only downside is that there are actually no vents downstairs for A/C so you need the upstairs to supply the downstairs - with doors closed and plus 9- temps, not super cool; but also not typical Maine weather. The views of Sunday River are spectacular and the grassy backyard enabled some football and water balloon fights. We would absolutely rent this house again. The maintenance team could make this house a true gem with minor fixed e.g. kitchen sink faucet handle (needed an allen wrench and we'd do ourselves), A/C wasn't running in main house on day 1, but was repaired that night (clogged filter the likely culprit). Very clean and very comfortable. This was our third stay in Newry and I would absolutely rent this place again. Angie's Clan - from Maine, NJ, NC and Georgia

Perfect mountain getaway

This house was perfect for our group! We had all eight of the beds in the bunk room full with kids who loved having their own space. The decor and furnishings were ideal and comfortable. Wood floors, stone entry floor, leather couch and large eat-in kitchen with high end appliances. We made great family memories here!

Long weekend for a big family

Our family--22 people in total, aged 5-80--enjoyed a long weekend in this lovely home. It was as nice in person as the photos conveyed. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, cooking, eating, and playing games together, and retreating to deck chairs to read and our own beds to rest. There are plenty of board games and puzzles which we enjoyed in addition to our own. We didn't use the television except very briefly (bring your favorite DVD or device that can connect) nor the video games as there was enough for everyone to do, even when it rained. The view is terrific and it's an easy ride to nice walking and hiking trails. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, flatware, cups, pots/pans, casserole dishes, and even spices and a few basics. There were plenty of clean linens for beds and baths/showers and the washers/dryers worked well. There were pool floats and toys that we could use and if we were there during ski season, there are a couple of sleds (and there is plenty of storage for gear and clothing). The management company was great when we called in the few issues we found--they were appreciative to know so that they could do any needed repairs for future guests. At one point, a smoke detector started chirping and someone came out within an hour to replace the batteries (it's a wired system so we didn't touch it) which was great as one of our kids has autism and such noises are very upsetting to him--they responded so well to this request. Things to note if you're planning a trip... we were there June 20-24 and many of the local summer activities such as zip lining, gondola rides, etc. were not open yet (they don't open until the very end of June). The pool is not heated but the hot tub provided relief for those who couldn't tolerate the pool temperature for long stints (a couple of the kids stayed in the pool for long time though). There were a lot of bugs--gnats, mosquitoes, ticks--that you'll need to be prepared to deal with when outdoors up in these mountains (citronella and bug spray helped) but we didn't see many black flies. There's a small country store 5 or so minutes away that is well stocked and friendly if you've forgotten any essentials. Enjoy!

Great space

plenty of SQ footage and beds, kitchen laid out nicely for actual use. Deck is beautiful and the hot tub was clutch. Worth noting, the pool is not heated, but I'm told the ad is being corrected to reflect this fact. I would definitely rent again, especially during ski season!

House and views were beautiful, great setup in kitchen and downstairs entertainment area, great backyard. High number of bedrooms and bathrooms was excellent. Plenty of parking. Easy instructions to check in and things were all very smooth.
