This cabin was a relaxing, peaceful mountain getaway! The space was clean and the property listing info was accurate. Our host Ron did a great job communicating with us. I would definitely stay here again.

We truly loved being able to stay at The Fox Den, in the beautiful Cattail Creek! Especially loved all of the various fox features, and the sound of the creek at night. Plus gorgeous deck to spend time on. Would certainly stay again!!

Ron was a very accommodating host with excellent communication. The cabin was charming and rustic; and the location was beautiful. I would heavily recommend to anyone who wants a private retreat with minimal distractions and beautiful mountain vistas.

We booked this cabin for the peaceful and relaxing vibe it gave to us. The cabin was clean and everything we needed was there for us to use. Parking area was great and we loved the back gazebo area where we sat and watched the creek go by. Unfortunately, one night, we had unexpected severe weather come through due to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias, and it knocked the internet out, which left us nervous because we had no contact in or out, and the decision was made for us to leave and find a hotel for the night. The internet was still off the next day which was fine because we went to Asheville for the day. Due to the unforseen situation with the weather, and having to leave for the night, Mr Ron offered us that night as a refund. He also offered us an extended stay for free if we wanted it, but we both had to be back at work the day after checkout. He has gone above and beyond what we expected, we appreciated the way he kept in touch with us over the situation, and the courtesy and professionalism shown to us was exceptional. We want to revisit and hopefully enjoy the whole time there at the cabin.

It would be cramped for more than 2 people but the beds were very comfortable. The heat worked very well. Parking was a bit cramped and the steps (because of a lot of leaves and sticks)to the front door were a little precarious if your aren’t real careful. Perhaps the people that cleaned so well before we arrived could take them of if it’s been awhile since it’s been done. We loved it there though!

Great quiet getaway

We had a very relaxing time in this great property. The area is very quiet and the babbling creek behind the home made for some very relaxing ambiance. The host was very welcoming and responsive. I would stay at this property again.

A Good Cabin!

Perfect for what I was looking for, a place to hike from and visit Mt. Mitchell for me and my two kids. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area, and then had a comfortable place to return to rest. Thanks again for letting us enjoy your cabin!

We enjoyed our stay at the Fox den. It was very pleasant, quiet and neat! It is not on the main stream of things to do, but if you are looking for some R & R, and that was what we were looking for, some rest and relaxation, then this is the place to be!

Beautiful cabin in a good location

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is cozy with plenty of fox themed decorations and a deck that's great for taking in some fresh air. The cabin is in a nice, quiet location. The creek running behind it provides background noise great for falling asleep or just relaxing. Overall, this is a nice cabin to stay in.

My wife were looking to spend a month in a mountain cabin and Fox Den was exactly what we wanted. The cabin is old but has a lot of character. We loved sitting on the back deck surrounded by trees, listening to the nearby stream. There are many remarkable places to explore within a reasonable drive of Fox Den and lots of opportunities for entertainment and dining. Local people we met were very friendly. Ron provided information on things to see and do in the area, and he was very responsive to our needs and questions.

Rustic and Relaxing

This house is perched right above a flowing creek that will put you in a relaxed state of meditation!!! The house itself is very rustic but has all the basic amenities! Ron was available whenever I had a question and was easy to communicate with! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay again

Hiking Trip

We were there to spend some time in the mountains and do some hiking. It was a great location, reasonably priced, and had everything we needed for our stay. It was really nice to be able to sit outside on the deck in the evening for dinner. My son had a great time in the creek. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice place to do local hikes

Great little place! Nothing fancy, but has all you need. The creek below was very nice. We were close to our hikes in Mt. Mitchell area. Burnsville wasn't far and we enjoyed Home place brewery after our hiking. Would definitely stay again. Thanks Ron!
