Everything was fine except, there were only 2 rolls of toilet paper in the home. We had 4 adult men staying for 3 nights, seems there would have been more. Additionally, there was only 1 trash bag in the kitchen for the one garbage can. With 4 grown men staying 3 nights, hardly seemed adequate.

Really cute place right on the ocean with perfect views and steps to the water. Great kitchen and living spaces. All was very clean. Loved having towels provided and beds made. Easy check in and out.

Fantastic stay

We really enjoyed our stay, we arrived and the kitchen sink was clogged, but after a call to the property manager they sent someone over to fix the sink. Otherwise, everything was great! We had plenty of space and the location was great, you can walk to two restaurants.

Not a great experience. Walked in the house with much excitement about spending Thanksgiving with my family for a few days only to find that used and dirty sheets were still on the bed, dirty clothes left in rooms, and the stench of weed throughout the house. Later, there were cockroaches seen in the stairways, kitchen drawers, microwave, counter tops, walls, and bathroom. I reported this to Oak Island Accommodations and was told that pest control would be scheduled, but let’s just say I’m still waiting for them to show up. Part of our group left because of the house not being up to standards. A weed pipe was found in the garage later which proves the smell that was noted earlier. I’m very disappointed in this stay. Being from a local coastal area myself and was previously employed as a quality housekeeper inspector for many years, I am knowledgeable in what to expect in housekeeping and maintenance expectations. This wasn’t it. The house has its own issues. The house sways when others are walking upstairs, the master bedroom balcony outside door does not lock, the back door has a large gap under that would welcome any rodent in, the back porch walkway is not securely attached, and the sight of multiple bug and mouse traps is not an appealing nor welcoming sight to see. The positive…. The location is awesome, but that is about it.

Great Location, Great Value, Few Complaints

Our stay was overwhelmingly positive. Amazing view from the balcony and porches. Loved being so close to the water. The value of the rental was great considering the location and number of rooms/beds. There were many bonus items available that were greatly appreciated: The kids were happy to have access to beach toys including boogie boards. The adults made use of the many indoor fans, outdoor grill, umbrella anchor, and beach chairs. Also for our babies, there was a high chair, playpen, baby gate and small beach tent. The outdoor shower was very useful. There were a few things indoors that could've been better: We did spot a few roaches, couple of the adults complained of hard beds, the beach view from the living room was somewhat lacking due to furniture arrangement, upstairs shower was slightly clogged, and the outdoor trash can was full when we arrived. I would suggest for owners to provide a small bit of hand soap in the starter kit, as we did not think to bring this at first. The checkout instructions on the fridge were outdated and conflicted with emails we received, so we had to contact the rental company to get clarification on what to do with laundry. (Emails were correct) Could've also used a note about how to get in garage, took us a while to notice the keys. As stated in the beginning, our stay was overwhelmingly positive and we would stay again if given the chance.

Asked to do chores?

After arriving, It took the first 3 hours of our vacation to figure out how to turn the refrigerator on. We had expected to make dinner and eat immediately after arriving, but the fridge chaos spoiled that plan. We ended up with a low quality take-out pizza form down the street late at night which gave me a stomach ache. We found used messy sex Lube and dirty clothing in the bedroom nightstand and dresser. We were not informed of the loud construction noise right next door, banging noises that went on from early morning till early evening during our retreat vacation. The kitchen was a disaster. It took forever to find anything I needed in the disorganized mess. Because of the listing, we were expecting a more organized and inventoried kitchen. Exposed sharp nails in the silverware drawer that was broken. Dishes were not clean. One of the dirty pots had burned on food still in it inside the cupboard. There were NO instructions for the internet or Spectrum TV. We never got the TV to work. It took an hour for (maintenance) to get the internet code for us. He came back the next day to help with the TV set up, and when he left, said it would come on in a few minutes after loading. We still never got the TV on. There is a lot of dirt and sand still on the floors and under furniture. We were unaware of additional requirements until we were committed. 9:00am Checkout Time is unacceptable. Instructions ask us to strip our own beds and sheets and perform other cleaning chores. I’m disabled.. Lots of notes around telling me to clean the place up on my last morning and get out by 9:00am. We could have stayed down the beach for less and got more luxury.

Anna, we are sorry to hear about your experience during your trip to Oak Island. Upon arrival you made our team aware of the cleaning issues you found when you arrived at the property. Due to the property owner opting to use a private cleaner outside of our organization we were not aware of the lack of cleanliness at the property. Once you made our team aware, we offered to come to the property to inspect and clean upon request however you denied our access due to COVID precautions, understandably. Since we were not able to access the property to prove the cleaning issues and conflicting photos from the private cleaner proved otherwise showing the property as being clean before your arrival the owner elected to not grant a refund even after we addressed this with him multiple times. When you booked your vacation on VRBO, the information regarding damage protection insurance was available but not displayed in an obvious area but our team has since changed this for future bookings. Despite this, our guest services team reaches out to all VRBO guests to inform them of the required payments for each selection as in this instance. Once again, we apologize for your experience as we always strive to accommodate our guests in the best way possible.

Overall a nice stay

This is a very cute house on the beach, although it is older and there are several issues that come with that. There were quite a few roaches in the home. However, when we called the rental company, they did get someone out THAT DAY to spray, which was very nice. The walkway to the beach is in need of some repair and while it was fine for younger people, I would feel very nervous having an older adult navigate that. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, just go in knowing that it is an older house that comes with the issues of one.

awesome week great views great weather ahhhh

this property is very nice two beds up with connecting bath two beds down with very large connecting bath and entrance off hall way . two areas with double bunk . great for the smaller kids , very nice kitchen and appliances . living area nice with large dining table .. best part is the lower deck and deck walkway to the beach . great views over the dunes . also awesome is the small deck off upstairs master bedroom .. to die for . outdoor hot shower . enclosed and secure garage area for storing our stuf f. owner has two kayaks bicycles a, beach stuff .. we brought our own . but well equipped for renters .. triple thumbs up wan to go back for sure

Great Stay

Check-in was very simple. Understand having to wait a bit longer to check-in because of the cleaning but we were in the area two hours before and we never seen car in driveway so it would’ve been nice if cleaning crew is done that you allow renters in once it’s completed instead of waiting. I would also highly suggest your cleaning crew also have everything working prior to them leaving. Took forever for the fridge to get cool and ice maker never did work so we just bought ice and it took a bit to cool place down so AC was running longer. It stated on checkout to have all fans running but yet when you check in nothing was running so the place felt stuffy till it cooled down some. Also leave trash bags. There was no trash bags other than the one in the bin which filled up after 2 days. So gave this 4 stars because the price paying you expect to have trash bags and something so minor but yet can’t do. Also put a fan in the upstairs room with balcony. That room got very warm at times. We did love the sunsets and the walk right out to beach. Things we felt wrong are minor and very simple fixes for the place. We would rent the place again and we talking about doing it again next year possibly.
