Cute and funky

We stayed for three nights in the snook suite and enjoyed it very much. Find location that was easy to get to Pine Island, but there was a lot of construction and occasionally the traffic would back up. All in all a fun place and would stay there again.

Paddleboarding fun!

I was very pleased with my stay at Fisherman's Paradise. We flew with our inflatable paddleboard and it was easy launching off the dock. We enjoyed the dolphins swimming next to us as we paddleboarded along the shoreline and canals. Locals were very friendly and Bluedog had great seafood freshly caught. Souvenirs were reasonably priced and it was nice to be able to purchase some items made by local artists.Property manager was kind and check in was easy. We had everything we needed for our stay.You can't beat the price.

Matlacha- Friendly and fun!

If you enjoy a small group - this is the place- we caught so many different fish off the dock, enjoyed some sunsets- only 4 units on this property! The local shops and gallery gardens are amazing!

Cute cottage on a canal.

We enjoyed sitting on the canal. Restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Publix real close. Owner was very responsive and short ride to Sanibel island.

Home away from home

My husband and I spent 8 days at this unit and enjoyed every day. The studio has everything you need including a great deck over looking the water. We had dolphins swim right past the dock, sunsets are amazing, and you are walking distance from shops and restaurants. We have visited Matlacha before the hurricane and want to support this community during their rebuild. I would give one piece of advice and that is to put hooks up around the unit to hang things.

A sweet little quiet getaway

I was in need of a solo staycation and i chose this place because the views were nice and the price was right. Very clean, all new interior, and roomy to boot. It's a 4 plex, so expect to have company every once in a while, out on the dock. Everyone seemed very pleasant, tho. I liked that I could take morning and evening strolls and enjoy all Matlacha has to offer. Restaurants were withing walking distance, which was great because parking is not plentiful at the establishments. I recommend The Perfect Cup for breakfast or lunch, Blue Dog Bar and Grill has amazing food, The Yukatan has amazing views and Jug Creek Marina and Bar/fishhouse has a wonderful beach atmosphere and incredible entertainment. My unit did not have a microwave, and I think that was my only gripe, because I really wanted to quickly heat up some of the delicious coffee I brought back from the breakfast place. The countertop electric stove made due, but it took me a while to figure the thing out... lol Read the instructions first!! Overall, it was a great stay and I would rent it again. (the bed is quite firm, beware)

Pros and cons

The snook suite was fine, but it definitely left a few things to be desired. First, some of the pros: the space was larger than I expected. We had room to blow up a Queen size air mattress for my teenager to sleep on more on this later). The refrigerator was full size, and kept things plenty cold. The closet was large and had lots of hangers available. It was a great place to hang wet towels and swim suits, with plenty of room to slide our suit cases in on the floor. The biggest downfall of the rental was the bathroom. While it didn’t look dirty, it didn’t feel clean either. The sink stopper wouldn’t stay open, so I had to prop a butter knife in it to allow it to drain. The rug on the floor felt gritty and gross - I hated being in there without shoes on. I felt the need to take very quick showers, just to get out of the bathroom as quickly as possible. And there is no fan in the bathroom, so it gets very hot and steamy. We ended up just leaving the bathroom door open. The couch/pull out bed was extremely uncomfortable. We happened to have an air mattress with us because we used it at another accommodation, so we blew it up for our daughter to sleep on instead of using the couch or pull out bed. Finally, and I know this is not necessarily the fault of the owners, the mosquitoes are TERRIBLE. I left with more mosquito bites after 4 days of staying there then I usually get all summer. Many of them popped up in the morning, meaning they were getting inside somehow while we were sleeping. Could I have used more bug spray? Probably. Do I expect to have to use bug spray before getting into bed? No. Overall, the snook suite was fine for a night or two. After a couple of nights though, I was ready for something a bit nicer.

Thanks for the really constructive feedback, which always helps us to improve things. Unfortunately, sofa beds are always not very comfortable, the mattress is even new and almost not used. Nevertheless, we will renew the sofa in the coming weeks. Of course, in the summer you can always expect increased mosquitoes, especially with a house right on the water. However, I am surprised that the mosquitoes were in the apartment, which can actually only be the case when the doors are standing too long open. But we are glad that you have not forgotten to mention the positive things. Thanks again!

Snook Suite on Matlacha!!

We enjoyed staying at the Snook Suite on the Fisherman's Paradise property! It was exactly as described in the listing, no "frills", but had everything we needed. The place was in a perfect location & the sunsets were amazing! Definitely recommend & will stay there again! Thanks!

We enjoyed our stay on Matlacha. Our unit worked well for us however the building is in need of some general maintenance. We were fully aware as it was written that renters must supply the gas for the grill or fill it after their use. Of course it was empty so we filled it knowing we would only use it once. It is our opinion with four units in the complex it makes it tough to say you must supply the gas for the grill. Sitting on the dock was a wonderful area to unwind, watch the water, fish and meet the others staying in the units. We met some wonderful people!

We take the liberty at this point to give a hint for future guests: the grill is not part of the rental property or rather, is not provided by us as the host. Therefore, the guests are responsible for the usability of the grill - if one is available because, for example, previous guests have purchased a grill and left it there.

Lovely place in a lovely place

The snook suite was great! It was bigger and more than I expected. The pull out couch was super comfortable. The location is amazing right on the water and walking distance to cute shops, ice cream and coffee. Our neighbors in the other suites were fantastic. Communication with Martina and her team was easy and responsive. We had fun exploring around pine island and short day trips to the beaches on sanibel.

The "Snook Suite" is the largest of the units from our Fishermen's Paradise and is really almost unusually "big" for accommodation in Matlacha. Greater Licks Ice Cream Shop is a must when visiting Matlacha, right! Thanks for your feedback and for having a great time!

Perfect Getaway!

What a delightful hide-away! We walked to everything we wanted to do and could hang out on the shared patio/deck overlooking the water when we got back. It was very comfortable and affordable. We will definitely be back for a second stay!

Kayak fishing with a good buddy

We had a Great time at the Snook suite. The fishing was pretty good all week, till we got a little cold front that came thru at the end of the week. This place was just about perfect for our trip, and reasonably priced to have water access right off the dock. We left out kayak in all night every night and had no issues. The pull out couch wasn’t the greatest. I just ended up sleeping on the couch without pulling it out. Great trip. Wish we didn’t have to leave. We also made Great friends that stayed in the other suites.

This is exactly the kind of feedback we would like to read. Because that's how we know that guests have enjoyed our Fishermen's Paradise as much as they should! Of course, we're sorry that you couldn't sleep so well on the couch at first. But for future guests, it might be a good hint that you can also sleep well on the couch without taking it off. Great location and view

This is a cozy little place with ample amenities. The view is amazing, location is within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Check in/out was very nice. This was the first vacation rental with a personal checkout; very pleasant and much appreciated. Thank you for that personal touch.

We enjoyed our stay at Snook Suite. Would possibly rent again. My only complaint is that the sheets and pillow cases were heavily scented, so I had to wash them to be able to sleep in the bed. Possibly it was the detergent, or fabric softener used. Please use unscented on the sheets or bedding.
