Loved it !
We came to the area for a family reunion. This is close to the family farm, the St Joseph light house (where my Dad worked while in Coast Guard), a tractor show in South Haven and my aunt in Ovid.
My husband and 16 year old had a blast fishing and playing on the water, my Mother enjoyed her coffee in the morning watching the ducks, squirrels, and the boats from the near by ramp.
Having a place to cook and wash cloths while visiting and not staying in a hotel is awesome ( our first time ) and will do this again.
The only problem was the high steps in and out of the house and porch for my 75 year old Mom. So we borrowed a brick for a step at the back door out to the lake.
Thank you so much for having us in your cute little house !
The Shore Thing was a perfect spot for our family of 6 to get away to for a few days. It had everything we needed and Randy and Michelle responded to our questions immediately. Paw Paw Lake was so peaceful and quiet (mind you we were there on week days). The fishermen of the family could fish right off the dock, and the rest of us had a great time relaxing on the deck and exploring little shops in Coloma. Then St. Joseph and South Haven are each just a short 20-25 minute drive, with their beautiful beaches, quaint shops and fun restaurants. We had a great swim in Lake Michigan at Silver Beach in St. Joseph and found ourselves asking, "This place is 3 1/2 hours from home. Why have we never come here before?" Another highlight was going to a movie together at the Loma Theater in downtown Coloma - for only $30! Gotta love small town prices! All in all we had a wonderful time.
We had a terrific stay at this lovely location.
We had a terrific stay at this lovely location. The home was well maintained and he had all that was needed in the kitchen and bathrooms for a weeks stay. The location was excellent. we took the boat out and finished. The ducks came by daily for a visit and the nights were very peaceful. We would certainly return to this location!
This home stay was a perfect getaway. The owner was very helpful with questions via email. We were able to bring our pontoon boat. Sipping coffee on the deck was very peaceful. The location is nice to visit South Haven or st Joseph both are around 20 minutes away. Vineyards and orchards near by. We hope to come stay again next year.
Thanks for the nice response, Shawn. We are happy you had a memorable time, and hope to have you stay next year!
Everything was perfect for my family. Very clean, lot of space and relaxing view on the lake. Thank you Michelle and Randy!
Nice size but somewhat disappointing
When we arrived there was a horrible smell. Someone may have been frying. Fortunately it was cool and we could keep the windows open. This owner is just starting out and the kitchen was stocked with everything you might need. House was clean. The deck was disappointing. I would have liked a patio table where I could set a drink. There were also no tables inside near couches to set a cup of coffee.
The location was very convenient and close to a lot of local attractions.
Thank you for having us.
We apologize for the smell from the previous guest. That's the first we have heard about a fry smell. The last guest had cooked something and left a very baked-on dirty pan hiding in the broiler that we found. With a quick turnaround, it takes time for some smells to dissipate. We did bring a small patio/umbrella table after your visit, but as you mention, we are just starting out and adding items as we can. The picture of the deck on the website shows no table at this time. There is a substantial hand railing around the deck where cups/mugs can be placed as well. As far as providing a table near the couches, that is something we choose not to have to deter eating and drinking in the living room. With the adjacent kitchen we felt it was easy enough to sit at the kitchen table and eat/drink while still interacting with guests in the living room, or watching TV. We do state that in our house rules, that there is to be no eating on the sofa bed that we purchased new this year.
Thanks for visiting!
