I had been stung by wasps! So glad to have you, and hope you come back. The wasps live in the "rotten metal" of farm gates. I'm used to this, but couldn't get my arm and leg away because of the sticker bushes. Now the project is to use a machete to clear multiflora rose away from gate latches. That's farming. la

My husband and I stayed 4 nights while waiting for our home to be completed in Winchester. It was absolutely the best sleep, rest and relaxation to come back to every evening. It was so very quiet and comfortable. We were fortunate enough to meet Laura during our stay. She is quite an amazing lady doing so many awesome things for our community, our health and food sources. If you get the chance to visit and stay in the cabin, do not pass it up! You will NOT be disappointed! Thank you, Laura, for providing a wonderful respite for us!

Visit this property if you ever get the chance. You will be impressed by the beauty, the historical significance and the graciousness of the host and owner, Laura.Though a historic home, the amenities are modern and comfortable. Every corner you turn in this home will completely amaze you. The beds are comfortable. There is plenty of seating area. It is pet friendly and full of trails and animals to discover. There is even a really nice washer and dryer for if you get dusty on the trails.Laura encouraged us to check out this 7th generation organic working farm that spans as far as the eye can see. She even took the time to tell our family about her farm. We were left in awe at this impressive farmer, businesswoman and very gracious host.

Perfect Getaway

We just wanted to try Kentucky somewhere near Lexington and stumbled onto this place in vrbo - and what a spot! We love history and this place and the surrounding area deivered. Interesting how Laura, the owner, is preserving and using the land. Loved the farm walks, loved the cabin, loved the area and the activities we did - just an all-around perfect getaway. This was truly a great place to stay. Getting back to nature was awesome. We didn’t get explore as much as we wanted, but the cabin was nice and roomy with updated plumbing. I enjoyed looking through the little store behind the cabin. I wished we would have had more time to check out the whole place. And the beds were so comfortable! It was very pleasant stay!

Laura was a great host... very responsive and helpful. House and farm were just perfect for our family... Especially enjoyed that there was no light pollution so the stars were fully visible. Hiked Natural Bridge and Pilot Knob and toured the Ark Encounter. Kudos to Laura for all she is doing for the community. Look up Mt. Folly Farm!

Picturesque Getaway!

Laura and her entire farm (animals and people) were so welcoming! We loved hearing first hand about the history of the cabin and area. It makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. It was very hot the week we visited but the AC kept the cabin comfortable. The 2 bathrooms were updated and very clean as was the kitchen. It is an old cabin so as expected we had some cobwebs and insects but nothing crazy and we felt very comfortable in the space. We would definitely stay here again with our family of 5!!

Wedding near Mt. Sterling

It was wonderful. The renovations to the old log cabin were amazing, leaving the cabin mostly as it was with the comforts of today.Laura was kind enough to give a tour/history lesson for us and it was most interesting. It was the perfect place to visit and cook meals or go outside to see the goats or to stroll down the road to pick blackberries and see the cattle and birds. The whole farm was unique and far enough away from the town that we felt totally alone, but close enough to go into town for things. We also hiked and kayaked in Red River Gorge nearby. We are thinking about when we can return.

Wonderful, peaceful 1785 log cabin next to old Shawnee village and the warriors path in Clark County Kentucky. Friendly goats in a side paddock and cattle in opposite field on the farm. Two friendly white Pyrenees dogs who come early evening to check on goats are a pleasant surprise! My wife, I and three grand kids came to this lovely spot mid June. First time I have seen the two younger ones not fight for two whole days. Yea! Great spot for bird watching.Birds that come to the feeder:Gold FinchesHouse FinchesWhite Bellied Nuthatches CardinalsTufted TitmiceRobinsDowny WoodpeckersRed Bellied WoodpeckersMorning DovesEtc.Also curious chipmunks. Large number of lighting bugs arise and light up the front lawn in the early evening.Beautiful sight to sit outside and watch them. No bitting insects that we noticed. Rooms and bed comfortable. Two wonderful historic sitting rooms with stone fire places and a good library make for pleasant, quiet reading. Close to Lexington horse farms, natural bridge and Red River Gorge. Close to Mountain Parkway Turn Pike. Very easy to get to, yet so far away from the 21st Century. We would like to spend more time here and walk the farm trails. As a place of peace, to rest and re-energize we give it 5 stars!

Beyond Wonderful!!

Set on a beautiful organic farm, this landmark “cabin” was so incredibly perfect for our graduation weekend. It was spacious and comfy. Laura, our host, is an amazing woman who’s hospitality was outstanding. We will definitely be back.
