Nosara, despite its many amenities, is still a remote area immersed in nature, and occasional water or power interruptions can occur. When the water briefly went out during your stay, our property management team immediately supplied ample drinking water for all guests (in fact, there were approximately 15 gallons remaining unused at checkout). Power outages in the area are typically short and reflect the local electrical grid, as was the case here. Regarding the beach path, it runs through a protected national nature reserve—one of the reasons this beach remains so special and unspoiled. While we use and lightly tidy the path, it is intentionally kept natural and is not something we are able to groom or formally maintain. All told, guests should keep in mind that this is a home in the jungle on the Pacific Ocean. That setting comes with occasional inconveniences, as well as the extraordinary privilege of being in one of the most beautiful natural environments in the world. Regarding security, we were very sorry to hear about the theft incident. We do want to clarify for future guests that critical instructions were not followed in this case. The property does have a security system, and we provide clear instructions asking that all doors and gates be locked and the alarm set whenever guests leave the property and overnight. During this stay, those measures were not used. The alarm was not set, doors were left unlocked, valuables left in plain sight, and at times gates left wide open. As we note in our listing, petty theft can unfortunately occur in Nosara, and using the security systems provided is essential for guests’ peace of mind.
