The house and property were fine - as expected from the listing. However, we felt mislead by the listing which stated there was a community pool. After arrival, we looked for the pool and were told by the local host that the "community" pool is the Garrett county community pool. This is miles away from the rental property. With that rationale - every rental in the county has access to a "community" pool. The hot tub was also not functioning. To the local hosts credit - they did try to get it repaired in the time we were there, but were not successful. The pool and hot tub were a big part of why we chose this property, so were doubly disappointed.

Wonderful mountain getaway

The property was clean and well appointed. We very much enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub. Some minor wear and tear, but the property was comfortable, welcoming, and had ample room for our party of six. Many nice mountain details in the decor as well. We would definitely visit again!

Lake cabin

Cabin was nice and a well laid out. Not toms of space to spread out but it was cozy. The outside needs a little cleanup but otherwise worked for what we needed.

Great Getaway Location

Loved this place and hope to return. Exactly as represented. Very clean and everything worked as promised. Extremely private, if you are looking for a view of the lake this is not it.

Great Location

Great setting. Very private but close to everything. Kitchen was well stocked except no non stick frying pans. Hot tub was wonderful. Will come back.

The perfect spot to get away

We had an amazing time at the Bears Lair! Our only bad thing is that we couldn't stay longer. Even with Covid we felt safe and that all precautions that could had been put into place. It was a wonderful vacation!

Checking in was easy—all was done online, texts, and emails. The key box was easy to find and operate. The house was well appointed with 4 en-suite bathrooms. There was a hot tub and fire pit, grill, and deck with a swing and plenty of outdoor seating. The kitchen was fully equipped—it was just like being home, but better. Log cabin, rustic feel to it was excellent. Isolated—could not see another property from any vantage point. Completely surrounded by trees—nice and quiet.

Cousins trip

We enjoyed our stay here at Bear’s Lair. We had everything we needed at this property. My only complaint would be that there were a lot of cobwebs that hadn’t been cleaned off door handles outside. Other than that, my family enjoyed themselves for our graduation/birthday celebration trip. Thank you for having us.

Secluded and Perfect!

If privacy and a little seclusion is what you're looking for - this is it! House was beautiful, super clean, and very spacious. Outdoor area was perfect with the hot tub and fire pit. Wi-fi was a little spotty but that's a given considering the location. Just one suggestion, maybe posting somewhere on how the front and side door locks work. It was a little tricky but my husband figured it out. It was a great long weekend!

Our family rents a lot of VRBOs. I'd love to give this home a better rating as it is well designed, spacious and in a private setting....However, it also is infested with mice and the hot tub that we were so looking forward to enjoying was not operational the entire length of our stay. We were informed the hot tub was broken the day of our check-in. The management, Taylor-Made, said they were working on it and would keep us informed of the status. After not hearing from Taylor-Made for two days, I called them and was informed it would not be fixed. I have a hard time believing the broken hot tub was not known about, or could not have been addressed ahead of time. I suspect that Taylor-Made just did not want to lose the rental or discount it appropriately.We discovered the mice issue while enjoying a movie the second night. We witnessed a mouse run from the laundry room, across the fireplace mantel and into our master bedroom. The wife was not pleased, to say the least. I started searching cabinets for a mouse trap and that's when I found multiple poison bait traps that had been completely torn apart -- one in the laundry room closet and two in the kitchen. The condition of the bait traps indicated heavy infestation and clearly management was aware but did not disclose. I did find a snap trap and caught two mice myself. I still heard at least one running around in the kitchen the last night of our stay. Renter beware on this one. Do your due diligence.

This property was perfect for our family’s long weekend getaway! The house was clean & well appointed. Plenty of seating for our party of 8. Also, well stocked kitchen. The coffee maker is a combo coffee pot/pod system. Be aware that one of the upstairs bedrooms has a full mattress, not queen as advertised in the listing. It worked out fine for our party, but may not work for someone else. The outdoor space with the hot tub & firepit was heavenly! We spent the most time enjoying the beautiful backyard space, watching the wildlife go by & listening to the birds & owls. We even saw a hummingbird (no bears, though!). The host provides 2 towels/washcloths per bedroom. Fortunately, we brought extras to use with the hot tub. Also good to note, only 1 dish towel & 1 dish cloth was provided. We highly recommend this home for a Deep Creek vacation! The lake & activities/restaurants are an easy, quick drive away.

Could use work

The house was lovely. But the door DOESNT LOCK. 7 young, out of state, women were staying in an unfamiliar environment in a house that didn’t lock. We were so creeped out by that. The check in process was supposed to include a lock box that held a key BUT THE KEY WAS IN THE DOOR WHEN WE ARRIVED and there were two key pads there that wouldn’t lock the door no matter how much we entered the code. The office employees were nice and easy to discuss this with. They sent someone over the next afternoon but we had to leave before they got there- the problem wasn’t fixed although their instructions said it was. We love the area but cannot recommend the Bears Lair just because of that single safety concern. There are not many complaints other than the door not locking and there being very very very poor wifi connection.

Good experience but

Had a great time at the lake, the property looked exactly as displayed in pictures and was clean. My only concern is that every morning myself, mother and uncle all woke up with a couple bites. Mine had gotten so big and burned to the touch that I had to seek medical help and was put on a steroid.

Girls Trip!

We loved this property! The house was beautiful ! Just a few recommendations ... maybe give a heads up that all 4 showers can not be in use at the same time otherwise everyone will have cold showers and give some direction on how to use the 5 remotes given for the tv ... we tried to watch a movie and it was impossible to just get regular tv or sign into Netflix !

Clean, spacious and close to everything. Would definitely stay again. Only complaint is WiFi doesn’t consistently work and cell service is poor....but that made it easy to relax and not do work🤗
