Lovely Shelter Island house

We really appreciated Laura's house. The beds were comfy, the big yard was fun for our kids to run around in, and the kitchen was exceedingly well equipped. Unlike some faceless short-term rentals, this place really is someone's home, so it's just that much cozier and prettier--and more functional. We'd be glad to come back some time.

Great end of summer getaway

The house had everything you could possibly need - especially for cooking; and a superb bathroom-with heated floors. It's right on Rte.114 but back from the road and across the street from the Sylvester Manor. No water views but beaches are close-by and the backyard outdoor sitting area is lovely - lots of basil.

Great location, well equipped clean home

This property was perfect for our family trip to shelter island! The house is centrally located, about a mile down the road from the beach. It is very close to the grocery store on island and some great restaurants. I would highly recommend it for a family or small group looking for a clean, well kept vacation house!

Quintessential Shelter Island home, centrally located and close to Wades beach

As shared in previous reviews, this home is well located. Kitchen is very well kitted out and bathroom is very pleasant. Hosts are fantastic. Responsive and available to ensure that your stay goes without a glitch. Great WiFi and TV channels in the property also.

A darling perfect place to stay

We held a three day retreat at the Ram’s Head Inn for families coping with cancer and some of our counselors needed an additional place to stay. This was perfect! The place is very spacious and the owner created a fun, relaxing and homey environment. The grounds are calming and it feels secluded. We are so grateful to have had a lovely place to stay and recharge.

House was just as pictured. Owners were very approachable and attentive. Small issue was addressed immediately while we were out. A very reasonable alternative to pricey hotels. Take a soak in the tub, it's wonderful.

Comfortable and Accessible

Once again we had a wonderful relaxing time at the house. A/C is great, big screen TV with lots of channels, kitchen has lots of appliances and general equipment for experienced cooks. Comfortable beds. House is well situated with very easy access to beaches, grocery store, restaurants, and good walking preserves. Certainly will come again!

A wonderful house on a beautiful island

The house was perfect. It came with everything you could possibly need. It was so comfortable. Walk outside to the grill and cook. Come inside and watch the huge screen TV. The central air-conditioning was ideal. They had beach chairs, beach towels and bicycles. I come to Shelter Island about three times a year, and this was pace was the best.

Relaxing stay in lovely cottage

We had a lovely relaxing stay in this cute cottage. You have everything you need to make your stay comfortable, central air, plenty of cooking supplies, great WiFi, Netflix and a beautiful new bathroom to enjoy! It is a wonderful location, so close to restaurants and IGA and convenient to both ferry’s. House instructions were very clear and the host helped us get a beach parking permit to make the stay on Shelter Island so easy with our new 2 month old baby. Hoping to be back later in the year or in 2021!!!

Great House in a Beautiful Location

Husband and I stayed for ten days in this incredibly well equipped home. Kitchen has everything you can think of to cook and enjoys meals at home. That said, this home is located in the center of local restaurants and beaches. We spent our days riding bikes and relaxing on beaches. The large screen TV made watching the US Open even better. We’ve been coming to the Island for the last seven years and this trip confirmed why. Highly recommend!

Perfection!

Everything about Laura's property was perfect! The property is fully equipped with everything you could want: complete kitchen, beach accessories (chairs, umbrellas, noodles), backyard furniture, central AC, etc. The location is unbeatable, a 1 min drive to one of the nicest beaches and a central part of town with shops and cafes. Laura was so friendly and always available, which I really appreciated. Looking forward to returning!

Great Location.

Great spot for a beach getaway! The house is ideally situated, just a stone's throw from beautiful beaches, restaurants, convenient ferry services, and essential stores. Inside, you'll find all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. A nice surprise was the daily visit from a family of deer in the garden - a real treat for nature lovers! While the house itself was great, the beach equipment could use some attention. The chairs are showing their age, and unfortunately, the umbrella was broken during our stay. An update to these items would make beach days even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would recommend this place for its location and comfort.

Comfortable house in a convenient location

Spacious comfortable house with all the mod cons and a big yard. The rooms were clean and private and the beds were great for sleeping. We very much enjoyed sipping our coffee in the mornings on the front porch and grilling in the back yard for dinner. And the big screen in the living room made movie time a blast. The central location made it easy to get around the Island by car or bike or even on foot. We love Shelter and go every year. This was one of our best houses. The only minor issue was that one of the bikes has a flat. But overall the house offered a wonderful place to stay at good value.

A Good Value

For three bedrooms, this house is a good value. Once the cottage in the back is renovated, this would be a good property for a couple of familiies, or for familiies with teenagers looking for reasonable lodging within quick driving distance of the water and ferries to the north or south forks of Long Island. The ferry fees are also reasonable and the schedule is convenient, but there are also markets and restaurants within close driving distance on the island. I have been using Homeaway since its start, and am sorry for the owners that the fees are now so high, but this is not the owner's fault. At least with this property, the deposit was reasonable.
