Bill and Marguerita brought Harry and Sarah Drummond to the UP! Wonderful fun just sitting watching the ships and wild life. The Lodge has spacious areas for gathering. We hated to leave so soon.

This is our 2nd year staying at the property. We love the property being right on the water. The kids can swim anytime. The trails are not far from the house. We love watching the boats go by. The house does need lots of repairs which we thought they would have been completed a year later. The deck was dangerous and you could fall off it. The windows leaked when it rained. Lots more little repairs. Overall we love the location.

We came to Drummond island to trail ride, we enjoyed the shale beach side of the trails. Weather was beautiful along with the many great views. The house was a bonus, offered a relaxing atmosohere, beautiful lake view, bonfire pit and tons of space. Deck had some weeks spots but nothing that prevented us from using it. We would definitely come again.

Beautiful setting but
..

The house had plenty of space for six adults (3 couples) . The views and sunsets were amazing and campfires right on the water. I feel bad for the owner because there is a lot of major expenses needed to be done, the deck is in pretty rough shape among other things. I would like to stay there again if things were updated.

Beautiful Views, Relaxing Sounds & Plenty of Room

We loved watching the freighters! We downloaded the app that was in the D.I. Guide so we knew when they were coming. Kayaking, fishing, swimming, rock hunting, bike riding, played catch & relaxed, alllll at the house. We ventured out to find a sandy beach and a short 13 minute drive fround D.I. Township Park that the kids loooved. After dark when the kids came inside, the house is a hide n' seek dream HAHA! The layout and huge windows and breeze coming off the lake were a dream. We couldn't have asked for more. OH and the kids got to see their 1st bear(s). Definitely lifelong memories made.

Beyond Expectations!

This was one of five homes we booked for our Matriarch's celebration of life. We just needed bedrooms. It looked beautiful online, was available and reasonable so we booked it. It was beyond expectations! The pictures don't even come close to showing how spacious it is. We weren't there for a vacation so didn't spend much time on the deck but did for a few hours one afternoon. So relaxing! This home has everything you need including a washer and dryer and the kitchen is well equipped. (it did not have W-Fi, or if it did, we couldn't find log in info) Our host was very responsive with any questions we had. It's a bit of a drive down two gravel roads but that's part of the charm of Drummond Island. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful Views

Overall our experience was pretty good. The views were incredible and that’s what made it worth it. However, we had to do all the laundry and clean the place our first night there because the cleaning lady “had an emergency”. I read a similar review, so this had us skeptical as to whether or not he was being honest about the emergency. It looked like it hadn’t been truly cleaned in over a year, as the dust was very thick. Aside from this, it was a wonderful house with awesome views. I’d go back, but I’d plan on bringing my own linens/towels so as not to have to worry about doing laundry all night on your first night there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Drummond Island. The house is very spacious and clean. Watching the ships pass through the straights was a huge plus. The only negative for us was the fact that we had to trailer our SXS's east to the trails.

Awesome views

Property was great for two young families we where there to trail ride and sight see and it was perfect we saw bear right in back yard and watched ships go through all week. Only downfalls was no a/c but was able to cool off with fans in evenings. Great location and property !!

Great Vacation Home

My family and I had a great experience staying at this rental! We enjoyed collecting rocks by the water, hanging out on the extra large deck and walking the long drive. The master bedroom is beyond spacious and the boys had a great time with the pool table in the loft. It was nice and open for everyone to be able to spend time together!

This was a great place to stay. There was so much space for everyone to relax. The views were amazing and the deck was great. A few notes, the trash was overflowing and there was a bunch of bugs on the outside windows. Make sure to bring paper towels, dish soap and toilet paper.

RENTER BEWARE-NOT AS ADVERTISED/FILTHY/POOR COMMUNICATION!!!

Our first impression of the property was the trash burn “pile” between the driveways. The outside of the home was covered cobwebs and there were cigarette butts in the driveway. The furniture on the deck has large tears in the seats and were not usable. There was a small table on the deck but no chairs to sit in. The inside of the home was very dirty. It had clearly not been cleaned since the last renters had been there. There was dirt and food crumbs on the floors. The carpet was stained and not vacuumed. There was a large amount of an unknown sticky substance on the floor in front of the refrigerator. There was meat juice (blood) on a shelf in the refrigerator and every shelf was dirty. There was black mold on the doors of the refrigerator. The counters were dirty. There were only a couple partial rolls of toilet paper, soap containers in the bathroom were almost empty with nothing to refill them with, no Diana washer or dish soap, no broom and no mop. There were just enough towels for each person in our group of nine to have one each for the entire week. There were used/damp/mildewy towels on the back of a bathroom door when we arrived. The toilet paper holders in two of the three bathrooms were broken and unusable. The dryer handle was broken/missing and there were no instructions on how to use it but a pair of needle nose pliers was sitting on the washer that worked to start it. The propane tank for the grill was empty. The owner did not respond to messages promptly and did not apologize or offer anything to try to rectify the situation except to send his “housekeeper” back (who clearly hadn’t been there at all). We spent two hours cleaning the home when we got there so we could unpack. We also cleaned it before we left and left it cleaner than it was when we arrived.

Beautiful place. Needs some TLC. Rain sideways and water came in through walls not windows like we first thought.. eventually could lead to a mold problem.Better cleaning. Surface is clean but a lot of cob webs and a few spyders. Loved the setting and view. Its a beautiful house.

AMAZING VIEW!

The house was very clean upon our arrival. Everything was well stocked including dishes, toilet paper, sheets and towels. Very spacious for my husband and I and 3 other couples. The view from the deck is unbelievable and the sunsets were beautiful. The host responded promptly to any questions we had. Highly recommend!

Beautiful setting and spacious

This property has a gorgeous setting. Located right on the water and picturesque sunsets. The cabin inside is big and open, very spacious. We housed 5 couples comfortably even though we all didn’t have an actual room we had plenty of space. It did lack toilet paper and dishes were left dirty in dishwasher but both were an easy fix. We loved it here. I would recommend this to other friends and family. Even though trails were on the other side of the island we still wouldn’t switch from this location. It’s hard to beat. We made wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you!

Maintenance and Cleaning issues

Although house was lovely and we enjoyed the view and being on the water—- Upon arrival—we needed to empty a loaded dishwasher, mostly not well washed, and then we hand washed all the food encrusted pans and utensils we found in the cabinets. One guest found bedbug shortly after getting in bed the first night, so she slept in her car and went home. The other downstairs guest was awakened by the sound of mice running inside the walls. Ice maker didn’t work—was disassembled. If we’d known we would have brought ice. The refrigerator was not clean and the oven was filthy, with encrusted spills. Mice scampered across the kitchen floor in the morning. There was “spittle” on and around the deck and a “spit cup” on the upstairs deck. All rather disgusting. We were greeted with a blockade and sign on one of the lakeside doors, warning us the floor had rotted through and not to use the door. The other lakeside door was inoperable as well and a lakefront window was stuffed with towels. The railing on steep steps down to the shore was rotten/loose and could result in a very dangerous fall if someone is relying on the railing. No paper towels, one bathroom had no paper, another had no hand soap. We came prepared to replace what we used but not to both supply and replace. Lakefront table may have been nice once but totally unusable after freeze/thaws. So eating out was not possible. No fireplace and No wifi?? Sparsely furnished. Sparsely supplied. No welcome notebook with any instructions on TV, etc., perhaps advising guests on dishwasher limitations, etc. We have experience with owning a summer rental and this did certainly not measure up to what one would expect in cleanliness, supplies, maintenance etc. Definitely not what you’d expect at the price that was charged.

Things need attention

Location and views were awesome! The pool table and foosball table are a great add on for the rainy days. Nice open spaces. The refrigerator water and ice maker did not work, the toilets (one which still had stains from the last renter) do not flush well, you have to hold the handles down, there were no towels for the upstairs bathroom, there was a dirty hand towel at the sink and one hanging on the door, the garage is stuffed and cluttered, there was a lot of boxes, cans/remnants from the last renters, do not lean on the upper patio railing, it is falling apart, one of us found out the hard way, one of the front windows had a towel stuffed in it and needs obvious repairs, there weren't any garbage bags left for the kitchen, water pressure is very weak for showers and hot water runs out after a couple showers. Overall, it is a place to stay with great views and nice open spaces, I think it is a tad overpriced as it needs some updating.

Great house!

This is a very nice clean place. Had a few rain showers so the kids really like the game room. Would rather have more beds upstairs for the kids instead of a master bedroom. Sleeping 9 of us was pushing it! This place needs a dock or swim deck.

Fabulous remote getaway — away from everything and everyone! Loved the house and it’s peacefulness.

Our dogs had a great time! You feel like you have the entire lake to yourself. It was a terrific house with everything you need. The views are spectacular! The island is just gorgeous.
