Im Jahr 1927 war diese magische historische Jagdhütte & Naturhütte das erste Haus am spektakulären Solstice Canyon in Malibu. Die majestätischen Redwood-Balken wurden mit dem Maultierzug in den Canyon hinaufgebracht, der dem Hirschpfad bis zum Gipfel folgte. Hier unter den Kolibris, Eukalyptus, Ozeannebel und südlichen CA Sonnenschein ist die Kulisse unseres exquisiten kleinen Ferienhauses. Nur 5 Minuten zum Strand am Ende der Straße, 6 Minuten nach Pepperdine und 8 Minuten zu den Geschäften und Restaurants in der Innenstadt von Malibu.

It felt like staying at a family’s place, but ofc you get the whole place to yourself. Me and my partner had a really great time enjoying the fresh air, nice and cozy open backyard- and all the convenient amenities. It is such a nice getaway to add life to your days. Highly recommend!

First I like to thank Whitney for our wonderful stay. The perfect host as she answered all my questions to make the stay even more enjoyable. The only thing I did not like was that there was no microwave, which I found strange, but it was not a deal breaker.. Would definitely come back..The outdoor shower was the best. Thank you!.

Peaceful oasis

A quick getaway weekend close to beaches and hiking, the house was easy to find, clean, beautiful; our host was responsive and helpful. The outdoor shower was the best feature with blooming honeysuckle; the fig tree a delight to sit under with morning coffee.

Cozy Malibu get-away

My friend and I stayed here while visiting our daughters at Pepperdine. It's minutes from campus and PCH, yet feels like your miles away in your own little secluded mountain home. Loved the outdoor shower. Beautifully appointed and the owner was very accommodating to our needs!

A dreamy house up above it all

This is a perfect little house. It's perched on top of Malibu up in the hills. It is so well designed and impressively stocked for a rental house. It has everything you need for an amazing getaway. The gardens are gorgeous and the outdoor shower is perfection. You will never want to shower inside again. I just can't say enough good things about this sweet house. And to top it off Whitney was an incredible host. So kind, communicative and accommodating. We had an incredible week and felt so at ease in the house. We will be back many times. P.S. if you rent it please take good care of it. It's in perfect condition and selfishly I'd like it to stay that way. :)

So comfortable and well-equipped!

This house is very comfortable, well supplied, well organized, and immaculately clean, and the owner is amazingly responsive and helpful. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and entertaining -- with high-quality dishes and pots and pans. The availability of miscellaneous cooking supplies is a welcome surprise. The only issue for us was the fact that the bedroom and bathroom are on separate floors, which we survived but not without some consternation for my 77-year-old husband. Nevertheless we would definitely consider staying again.

Quiet Getaway

The property is as it appears online. Great kitchen, great yard, and amenities. If you want total quiet and serenity this is the place. The only issue we had was the drive up to the house after sundown-- can be treacherous if there is fog. The canyon winds around a lot, have the manager change timer on outside lights for the full time you are staying if you intend to be out past 6 pm. The bed was not comfortable. But there is so much good that it was easy to overlook. Would recommend the manager keep a eggshell topper in linen closet for those that need it. So close to Pepperdine it worked for our visit. Beautiful surroundings.

The bed is a top-of-the-line luxury mattress from Design Within Reach that we’ve received consistent positive feedback about from past guests, but if there are future guests who prefer a more soft, plush style mattress, we are happy to work with them ahead of time to accommodate. We always have a soft mattress pad on the bed, use fresh white cotton sheets, down pillows, and offer a selection of king blankets and down comforters for the different seasons. Being a natural area, there aren’t street lights, but there is typically only fog a few nights a year, and my advice for those nights is to take it super easy on the road and drive carefully. It is a dramatic canyon that does go up quickly, but the trade off is that you get to experience spectacular wilderness just a few minutes from town and Pepperdine. You quickly get used to the road and then enjoy the epic views.

Great time

The place was amazing, no complaints whatsoever. The only thing to know about the stay is that the drive up the side of the hill is a little daunting to newbies. Once you drive it a few times, it doesn't seem so overwhelming, but the first time (especially at night) isn't ideal. Another thing to know about house, is if security is very important to you, I don't suggest staying. The main bedroom is on the street level, and the only thing between you and an intruder is a glass sliding door. Outside of those 2 things, it was very pleasant.

Hi Matthew, thank you for your review, I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay! For guests who may be concerned about security, we have exterior security cameras that are monitored 24-7 which cover the driveway and street facing entrances to the property. The sliding glass door is a $6000 Anderson custom made unit that we had designed especially for the space and it locks securely. The drive up to the house is just 5-6 from PCH and the spectacular views inspire me every time :) Warm Regards, Whitney

When this little jewel in the rough appeared, we knew it was our chance, and we spent the next 2 years fixing, restoring, uncovering, and polishing this gem of a house. It's serene, awe inspiring, cozy, and convenient here. At the end of a sweet neighborhood, set in a California state park, minutes from the beach and downtown Malibu.
