Vacation in the treetops at this modern mountain view cabin on 5 acres, tucked into the side of Saw Mountain in Pisgah National Forest. Completely private, surrounded by trees, with stunning year round mountain views and Hominy Valley below. The cabin is 15 miles to downtown Asheville and a short 5 mile drive to be immersed in the natural wonder of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Great for an individual or couple looking for a memorable and tranquil spot away from the everyday.
The magic begins as you wind your way up the mountain through the trees, rocks, and laurels, to the cabin nestled on the side of the mountain. The wooded privacy, lovely views, and serenity of this getaway will allow you to exhale. The covered front porch is a shady spot to relax, watch the butterflies, and listen to the birds. On a chilly evening, you can keep warm by the fire pit, while you listen to the nights sounds and look at the stars.
When you step through the front door, you are welcomed by a view of sky, mountains, and Hominy Valley below. The inviting living room offers a large comfortable sofa, a one of a kind upholstered chair, and original art. For even more ambiance in this cozy room, there is a propane fireplace and stereo available.
The well appointed, large modern kitchen invites you to prepare anything from a simple snack, to an elaborate dinner. Which can be enjoyed on a collection of handmade ceramic dishes, as you take in the view, either inside at the island or sitting on the old church pew in the dining area. If dining alfresco is your preference, the expansive back deck has a propane grill, comfortable chairs and coffee table, and a bar height dining table & stools.
The magic continues in the spacious, romantic bedroom suite with a wall of windows to take in the beautiful view from the comfy king bed. There is also an electric fireplace and a reading corner with a one of a kind upholstered love seat. In the bathroom there is a double sink vanity, a lovely tiled shower for two, and a large antique 6’ claw foot tub for soaking. Wake to a beautiful sunrise and an occasional hot air balloon floating over the ridges.
The cabin is furnished with an eclectic mix of rustic, modern, and industrial items. There are pieces I have created or repurposed, things that have been given to me or come from previous generations, some I selected in my travels and original art. I hope you enjoy the personal style, and trust that you will treat my home and belongings, with the same care you would your own.
The upper and lower levels of the cabin have been separated to create the maximum amount of privacy for my guests and myself. Think two story duplex, with each level having a private entrance and no common or shared areas. The main cabin level, 3 sided deck, and front fire pit area are entirely for my guests to use, enjoy, and make themselves at home. My personal space is on the lower level of the cabin, where I reside with my dogs. I am available if anything is needed, otherwise your time here and privacy will be completely respected.
The cabin is located one mile up a gravel and dirt mountain road, expect some uneven spots, bumps, and shallow holes. A regular front-wheel drive vehicle will get you up the mountain most of the year, except during winter months where an all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive is recommended due to unpredictable weather. No rear-wheel drive unless it has 4x4 capability.
COVID-19 Cleaning Practices
The cabin is throughly cleaned and disinfected (surfaces, sheets, bedspreads, blankets, towels, & floors) between every booking.
