The scenic River Swindale and surrounding fells provide excellent walking and cycling opportunities, with the Pennine Way passing close by.

Just a short drive away, Kirkby Stephen offers a traditional market town atmosphere with independent shops, galleries and access to the famous Settle–Carlisle Railway, renowned for its spectacular scenery.
