A Few Steps from the Walled City (Dimora del Lario)

Located in a historic building in Como along one of its main streets, just a few steps from the walled city, DIMORA DEL LARIO combines timeless charm with an unbeatable location.

Upon entering the apartment, guests are welcomed by a spacious, fully equipped kitchen—perfect for preparing delicious meals with local ingredients. To the right, a high table with four stools provides a convivial dining space, while to the left, a washing machine ensures maximum comfort even for longer stays. Continuing down the hallway, you’ll find the living room, tastefully furnished with clean, modern lines. It features a cozy lounge area with TV and a single sofa bed, as well as a dining table ideal for shared meals and relaxing moments. (Please note: the sofa bed is not prepared, we think it is proper to use the sofa during non-sleeping hours. You will find sheets, pillows and blankets in the closet/shelf most adjacent to the sofa). The entire apartment features charming hexagonal cement tiles, enhancing the historic atmosphere of the building while giving character to every space. The sleeping area includes two double bedrooms, each equipped with a large wardrobe for easy organization. The recently renovated bathroom features a shower and bidet, combining practicality with style.

Completing the apartment is a lovely outdoor terrace furnished with four wicker chairs and a small table—a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city, perfect for relaxing outdoors.

Quality bedding, towels and a courtesy kit are provided.

We also leave a gift basket with some necessary items for your first breakfast.

The apartment does not have a private parking space, but several paid public car parks are available nearby, including those along Viale Innocenzo XI and Viale Varese, as well as the Centro Lago parking and the Autosilo Comunale.

Any commercial business is forbidden inside the apartment.

From DIMORA DEL LARIO, the historic center of Como can be reached in just 5 minutes on foot. There, you can stroll along cobblestone streets, explore shops, bars, and restaurants, visit churches, and relax in charming squares. Within about 10 minutes, you’ll reach Porta Torre—one of the ancient entrances to the walled city—Piazza San Fedele with its Romanesque basilica, Via Vittorio Emanuele, famous for shopping, Piazza Volta, lively all year round with outdoor cafés and aperitifs, and the iconic Piazza Duomo with its magnificent cathedral and the historic Broletto. In a few more minutes, you’ll arrive at Piazza Cavour, Como’s largest square, where boats depart to reach the most famous towns on Lake Como, including Cernobbio, Menaggio, Bellagio, and Varenna. A scenic walk or a short bike ride leads to Villa Olmo and its park along the picturesque lakeside promenade starting from the Hangar, or to Villa Geno via the Viale Geno lakefront. At the beginning of the street, you’ll also find the Funicular station to Brunate, where you can visit the lighthouse or continue a panoramic hike toward the Larian mountains, stopping at one of the traditional mountain huts along the way.

Right next to the building, you’ll find two pizzerias (Il Sombrero and Pizzium) and a LIDL supermarket; within a one-minute walk, there are bars, Italian and international restaurants, car and motorbike rental services, and a modern gym.

How to get there:

By car: from the A9 motorway, take the Como Nord exit and follow the GPS—reaching the apartment takes about 10 minutes.

By train: from Como S. Giovanni station, the apartment is just a 5-minute walk away. From Como Lago station, it takes about 15 minutes on foot or around 5 minutes by one of the many buses departing from the Sant’Agostino bus terminal and stopping near Viale Innocenzo XI.
