Situated on the eastern side of Trevose Head, with golden sands, pebbles, a small stream and plenty of fascinating rockpools to explore, Harlyn Bay beach is considered one of the best family beaches in Cornwall. Kayakers and novice surfers are often seen mastering the waves with local surf schools.
Harlyn Bay sits just west of Padstow.
Padstow, a picturesque fishing port set amidst stunning beaches, has become a must-visit foodie destination, thanks in large part to Rick Stein. This charming town, part of the ancient pilgrim route known as the Saints’ Way, has a pretty working harbour that may have been in use as far back as 2,500 BC.
Situated along the Camel Estuary, Padstow is surrounded by two breathtaking National Landscapes (formerly AONBs): the Camel Estuary itself and Carnewas to Stepper Point. This area is rich in natural beauty, home to rare plant species and one of the UK’s most protected mammals, the otter. It’s the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.
For a more adventurous route to Padstow, pick up the Southwest Coast Path, passing several sandy beaches and smugglers caves, it's roughly a 7 mile walk along the dramatic coastline.
If you prefer to travel on 2 wheels, the Camel Trail is a 18.3 cycle path that runs from Padstow to Bodmin, known for being mainly flat, it's an easy ride for all the family. There are several cycle hire shops around.
Golfers of all standards can enjoy a day on the greens at nearby Trevose Golf Club.
