Truth in Advertising!

The description Desiree provides on the listing is mostly accurate which is good news and a bit less good news. The good news is Lucille is adorable and has all the 60's touches still intact with linens to match. Love the Tiki Cat pillows! Indeed, almost all her original features are lovingly preserved. You do have a private compound with a parking space right in front. The location is wonderful. You are blocks away from the Visitors Center as well as one of the entrances to the park. WE hiked for hours every day very easily. You are just down the street from two very popular restaurants: JT Country Kitchen and Joshua Tree Saloon. (The best place we ate was Yucca Kabob in Yucca Valley, Huge portions and TASTY!) I would only consider renting Lucille if you can a) respect what a gem she truly is b) don't need much space c) don't need some of the features I thought were going to be there but were missing. There is a very small lock to lock the wooden fence from the inside, and no way to lock Lucille herself. I only found that out after searching for a long time in the dark for a lockbox we were told had the key that apparently is no longer there. I didn't feel very safe and definitely didn't leave anything of value when we were out. There is no hot water except in the outdoor shower. In fact, there is no other shower. Lucille is, of course, a 60-year-old trailer, so has very thin walls and is drafty. She has some minor cracks which have been repaired with duct tape. Heat is via a space heater. The beds are VERY narrow. My husband and I could not fit on the longer one lying side by side and we are not very big/tall people. Anyone over 5'8" would have a challenge. I would not put 4 people in Lucille! The stove and fridge in the trailer are not functional. You can use the fridge outside though! We ended up having to leave a day early. I made extra effort to leave Lucille as clean as we found her and texted the owner twice to tell her. I never heard from her after I informed her I was leaving early. This is unusual for a VRBO rental in my experience. Here is the type of person I recommend for a Lucille stay: You are adventurous, don't need hot water, are okay with cooking on a grill and using a fridge outdoors, love retro design, and don't mind being in very close quarters with your companion(s).

This is such a cute little property/camper. So fun when staying in JT. There is a nice enclosure for lots of privacy and a place to star watch. A cute outdoor shower, outdoor fridge and a grill. It would’ve been nice if there was a microwave but other than that it was lovely. The bed is tight for two people but that just meant more snuggling! Lots of privacy. Very cute and cozy. Good price. Would recommend.

A Fantastic Lucille Stay!

Desiree was a wonderful host, and our Lucille experience was fantastic with the cozy and quaint accommodations and the privacy of the property. Minor notables: the stove in the camper is non-operational, although shown in the picture (we had planned to cook, but used the grill instead); and the picnic bench is very splintery. Lucille is Sweet

The location is a super 'jumping off' point to explore Joshua Tree, and surrounding area. Comfortable for two, accommodations are basic, but enough for relaxation and exploration.

Quick Valentines get away

My partner and I 100000% enjoyed our 2 night stay in Lucille. I would recommend this to anyone. The provisions, the outdoor shower (truly an experience that must be done), the convenience of location to Joshua Tree national Park. Truly amazing. Affordable. Perfect nice little hidden gem!

Thank you for making our trip to JTNP a memorial one!! It was a little chilly the first night but the space heater worked great! I had to call owner about locational because I was trying to navigate it in the dark. She responded right away and we had no troubles! Lucille is so cute and the location was perfect.

Rustic and charming

It aint the Ritz, but for the price it was clean, safe, quiet, and very convenient. The only shower is outside, which I didn't realize. That would have been fine if the hot water worked- maybe we just couldn't figure it out? The beds were super comfortable and the space heater was a great touch. The location was tricky to find at first, and the host did not answer my panicked call, but after riding around a little, we figured it out. The neighbor's dog conveniently stopped barking around our bedtime, so it was very serene.

Perfect slice of desert camping meets comfort.

Lucille is cute. Shes retro. She's got personality and charm. The beds are comfortable. The outdoor bamboo shower was an added charm especially being able to take shower at night under the stars. Everything you need to grill and prepare meals is available. There is a mini-fridge along with the grill for food storage and cooking. The toilet flushes quick. Overall a great place to stay for my time exploring Joshua Tree National Park. Would stay there again!

Lucille was SO cute and perfect for a girls weekend getaway! Desiree was very accommodating and always answered her phone for any questions. It was also super close to all of the things that we wanted to go do in Joshua Tree. It was also color coordinated down to the little details which made my little Virgo heart very happy! We will definitely be back!

Wonderful (and better) alternative to a hotel...

I had a work trip to 29 Palms to work on the base for 10 days or so. The hotels were close to full and some of them out there are questionable. I decided to look at VRBO and found Lucille. I don't think I will stay in a hotel ever again on my trips out there. It is off the main Hwy, so it is very quiet. But it is less than a 2 min jaunt or 10 min walk to the main hub in Joshua Tree (which is a phenomenal area btw). Plenty to eat, do and see or shop. The Crossroads Cafe is awesome and the people are friendly. There is also a very nice quaint coffee shop adjacent to Crossroads. 10 min or so from Yucca and about 15 from 29 Palms. Perfect location. Additionally - it is 5 min or so from the western Joshua Tree National Park entrance, which is beautiful. I drove through it multiple times en route to the base (the east entrance/exit comes out right at the road that will take you to the Adobe Rd that leads to the base. The RV: it is small, but was perfect for me. Consider that if you have more than 2 people in your party. That said, it was plenty big enough for me. The AC works just fine, but only needed it a couple hours a day when the temp outside got up to 90 or so. Otherwise, kept the windows all open. Its usually breezy. The inside oven/stove, refrigerator, and shower don't work. That might be for safety reasons. That said, you don't need them. The outdoor shower is MARVELOUS and very easy to use. There is a refrigerator outside as well under cover and it and the freezer worked just fine. Made ice in less than an hour. My favorite part was the grill. I cooked every meal on it. Baked, grilled, braised and toasted. There is also a side burner to the stove if you want to pan fry or skillet cook. I cooked eggs, beans, rockfish, veggies, and so on. I ate out ONCE the entire time I was staying there and that was to meet a colleague. Last: Desiree and James were wonderful. I had two minor problems when I was there and they responded immediately. The coffee maker quit on me and Desiree brought me one immediately. And I had an issue with the door lock and James came to work with me on that within the hour. THAT is great stewardship. If you're looking for a mansion, the quaint RV isn't that. But if you are looking for an "outdoorsy" stay that is peaceful and to yourself with access to all the amenities Joshua Tree and surrounding areas have to offer, this is it.

Cute space

I enjoyed my stay at Circle Crest Ranch in Lucille. You can see that the owner takes great care of the property and put a lot of thought into Lucille. The location is perfect- close to the main entrance of the park and close by all the local businesses on 29 Palms highway. I would love to come back for future stays.
