2 Bed in Barrowford (oc-c33529)
This characterful grade 2 listed cottage is in the quaint Lancashire village of Barrowford and is the perfect rural retreat for families and couples who enjoy getting out and about in nature. Barrowford is a picturesque village, with cute cottages and historic buildings. The high street is lined with a collection of independent shops and boutiques showcasing local produce and handmade goods, as well as cosy pubs and cafes. The countryside surrounding Barrowford is a haven for walkers and cyclists, and you’ll also find scenic routes such as the towpath of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Journey 3 miles west to explore the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, where you can climb to the summit of Pendle Hill, follow the Pendle Sculpture Trail, or take a waterside stroll at the Black Moss Reservoirs. You’ll also be within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales and iconic beauty spots such as Malham Cove (18 miles) and Bolton Abbey (23 miles).
From the cobbled street, a flight of external steps leads to the cottage, which is set above a shop. Inside, you’ll find a country-style kitchen/diner with a beamed ceiling, whitewashed stone walls, and deep-set windows. Whip up tasty dinners here, using fresh produce from your travels, and gather around the farmhouse table for mealtimes to remember. After dinner, head through to the cosy lounge, which again boasts fabulous exposed beams and a charming stone fireplace housing a coal-effect gas fire. Unwind here, after a long country walk, reading a book or catching up on your favourite programmes on the Smart TV. Upstairs, two delightful bedrooms await, both with plush linens and characterful original features. A contemporary bathroom completes the accommodation.
There is no outside space with the cottage. However, you’ll find numerous walks on your doorstep, including a fascinating town trail starting at the heritage centre. Barrowford also has some lovely public parks and green spaces. On-street parking is available nearby, subject to availability.
