This welcoming two-bed cottage in Cumbria blends the charm of a rustic home with stylish modern touches, providing a peaceful escape in the pretty countryside. You’ll be just 15 miles north of the Lake District – ideal if you’re a nature lover. The village of Dalston has a few cosy pubs, charming cafes, handy shops and a train station for if you’d rather travel easy. Head a little further to Carlisle (3 miles) for a historic city buzz, complete with a blossoming arts scene and heaps of northern character. For nature lovers, the Solway Coast National Landscape is just 14 miles away, while the pretty market towns of Bassenthwaite (16.5 miles) and Keswick (27 miles) make for lovely day trips.


On arrival, step through the entrance hall into a sleek and stylish kitchen/diner, kitted out with an elegant table for laid-back family meals or board games. The contemporary lounge has a warm and welcoming feel, complete with soft seating, a Smart TV and an electric fire for cosy nights in. Upstairs, via a staircase leading up from the lounge, two sophisticated king-size bedrooms await, both featuring Smart TVs, rustic wooden ceiling beams and timeless wood panelling for a hint of grandeur. The sleek family bathroom includes a bath, separate shower and WC.


Outside, the enclosed patio area is a delightful spot for al fresco drinks. After days out walking, you can look forward to a lazy soak in the wood-fired hot tub, set against original stone walls. Guests also have access to a shared lawned front garden, and there’s private parking for two cars with an EV charger. The owner’s home is right next door, with privacy assured, should you need anything.
