The castle itself hosts a wide variety of events from April through November, and it’s also home to a charming café, restaurant and gift shop. You’ll be in a central spot in the market town of heart of Ludlow – on the Herefordshire, Shropshire and Wales border. Excellent walking opportunities surround you, from strolling along the River Teme to joining the Mortimer Trail (2 miles), a scenic 30-mile waymarked route from Ludlow to Kington. Keen hikers can also venture 10 miles north to the Shropshire Hills Natural Landscape, perhaps following the waymarked trail to Flounders’ Folly. The full loop from Craven Arms is around 6.5 miles and packed with panoramic views.

This elegant apartment blends opulent colours and luxurious interiors with stunning period features, complemented by antique furniture. For relaxing, you’ll find a spacious living and dining area with a statement open fireplace (for looks only!) and a Smart TV for cosy evenings in. It’s a joy to gaze out over the castle grounds from the window or take in the sweeping views towards Whitcliffe – a favourite local beauty spot. The modern kitchen is well-equipped for cooking up a storm, perhaps using fresh produce purchased at the lively Ludlow market (300 metres). These spaces also showcase the gorgeous original latticework of exposed ceiling beams.

Outside, there’s parking available for one car. While there’s no private garden, the shared castle grounds (available during opening hours) are certainly ripe for exploration when you need to stretch your legs.
