The village has a children's play area and tennis courts, and there is a pub with restaurant close to the village. Close by is a Roman watchtower with 360 degree views over the surrounding countryside, Dee Estuary, Wirral Peninsula and beyond. Holywell, 3 miles away, is home to the famous St. Winefride's Well, one of the Seven Wonders of Wales, and the remains of the 12th Century Basingwerk Abbey. Within the locality there are four golf courses, including Pennant Park with a magnificent clubhouse and far reaching views over the River Dee and the sea, along with good horse riding and fishing facilities. There are many lovely walking routes and trails in the area, including The Pennant Walk, Offa's Dyke Pathway and The Clwydian Range. The historic city of Chester, with its famous Rows, city walls and good shopping is easily reached as is the North Wales town of Ruthin, whose castle offers the chance to attend a 4-course medieval banquet. A short journey along the North Wales coast leads to the popular towns of Llandudno and Conwy with its castle, town walls and picturesque setting. The Conwy valley also gives easy access to Betws-y-Coed and the Snowdonia National Park.
