AMAZING, totally unique and great hospitality!

Went here on my honeymoon and was a bit nervous because it was a villa (and not a hotel), but was blown away. Stunning place, 100% as advertised and Sam and his team could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Food was very delicious and everywhere nearby and activities in Santa Teresa are endless. They went above and beyond to give recommendations and make sure we were comfortable in town. It's a walk to get up the hill, but totally worth every step. Villa provided incredible views of the ocean, great view of sunsets, very clean (and cleaned for you each day!) and you're in the middle of seeing/hearing the cool wild life of Costa Rica. Highly recommend!

Peaceful retreat in the trees with sprawling views of the ocean and outstanding sunsets!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Santa Teresa. This was our second time in the area and we are so glad we chose this location. Our favorite beach was the one right across the street. You can walk up and down along the water to get to other areas for more surfing or cervezas. The grocery store was right at the end of our drive, which made it extremely convenient. There are many fabulous restaurants all recommended by Sam, our gracious host. Sam greeted us upon our arrival, even though it was late, and explained everything about the property to help make for a comfortable stay. He has impeccable taste and passion for Costa Rica and put so much love into the all the details of this property. The house sits at the top of the hill and is built on stilts so the room is literally in the trees overlooking the area. We slept with everything open and could hear the birds and howling monkeys each morning and the hammock was the perfect spot for a siesta. We would absolutely recommend any of his properties to anyone and will probably be back.

Enjoyable stay above Playa Santa Teresa

Very cool place with a very elevated view over Santa Teresa. A giant one-bedroom setup with the bathroom behind the bed means this is really only for couples comfortable with that setup. Check-in was coordinated over WhatsApp and we were greeted upon arrival. Our rental car made it up the steep driveway on the second attempt and there's a large flight of stairs, so you should feel comfortable climbing to get here. We had issues with power, 1) where it went out in the city for several hours (understandable), 2) where the back half of the unit was out (maybe unit's circuit/breaker), knocking out our internet and refrigerator for the last 24h of our stay. We didn't get a quick response or this solved before our departure. This place is very expensive, so we would expect this to be handled better. That was disappointing as cell reception is spotty and we were without communication and appliances for 24h out of 4 days. The kitchenette is located outside, and so blocking the fridge is necessary at night. We had monkey visitors at night open the drawers, knock over the garbage and attempt to open the fridge, but we didn't see them ever again. Expensive, but cool. Takes a little while to get down, and especially back up, from the beach. But it felt safe and you can't beat the view and the deck featured in the photos. We hope our mixed bag of an experience isn't common for others.

Wonderful Stay in Santa Teresa

We had an amazing visit in Santa Teresa, and the property could not have been more perfect. The property manager, Viva, met us when we arrived and gave us some amazing tips on what to do during our stay, and she organized a number of trips for us including a half day fishing trip. The villa is centrally located, but still feels very private. We especially enjoyed the panoramic sunset views in the evening. We would definitely stay here again if back in Santa Teresa, we highly recommend Villa Ivory. Thank you for the great memories!

Quiet and magical, but centrally located

We had the best time staying here- the perfect balance of serene beauty removed from the bustle of town, but so centrally locates that we could get to all of the best restaurants and surf spots in just a few minutes. Sam and his staff were so helpful and accommodating. The property itself is beautiful and the view is spectacular. What a special place to wake up! Already dreaming of coming back soon!!

Amazing service with a view to match

Sami is the consummate host, immediately answering us and taking care of any issues we had. He gave great recommendations for things to do in the area, and his house has the most incredible views of anywhere we stayed in Costa Rica. We would absolutely stay there again

Amazing accommodation, truly stunning with views to die for

The lodge is an amazing place to stay. Architecturally an amazing concept and it must have been wonderful for Sam to see his vision come to life. It should be in the running for some architectural design award. Lovely mix of materials and a serene ambience about it. The lodge provides everything needed for a comfortable stay. We were privileged to witness animals in their natural habitat including raccoons, iguanas, armadillo and coati as well as beautiful birds. It is located up a steep hill but no doubt you will have hired a 4x4 anyway and even if not, you can hire quad bikes and motorbikes locally. Santa Teresa and Malpais are about 1.7 miles apart. There are at least 4 grocery stores to choose from that open early and close late. Several restaurants and we can highly recommend Casa Thai in Malpais and Pronto in Santa Teresa (Italian opened by a Masterchef USA finalist) plus an artisan bakery, called The Bakery, which does delicious homemade cakes and desserts as well as savoury dishes. There are a couple of banks if you need to get any cash out, several surfing shops for board hire / lessons as well as a dentist, doctor, pharmacist etc if you have need of their services. Sam has a great team behind him headed by Adrian and Kayleigh. The lodge is cleaned every day and although you may think this is a bit overkill, it is nice to come back to but I do think the cleaners should have Sundays off. The area was not overrun with masses of tourists and retains a really natural and laid back vibe. Plenty of beaches to choose from and although a bit of a bumpy ride to get to, Montezuma beach is well worth a visit. Sam and his team wish nothing more than for you to relax and thoroughly enjoy your holiday. Nothing was too much trouble. You will not be disappointed if you stay here, it truly is a stunning lodge in a beautiful location.

Magical!

Villa ivory is an oasis in the jungle of Santa Teresa. The villa is located in the perfect area- walking distance from the nearest grocery store and delicious restaurants and cafes. The space is constructed as an open space observatory with sprawling views of the jungle and the sea; making every corner of the property visually breathtaking. Sam and his crew are super welcoming and responsive, and the cleaning team leaves the space perfectly clean on dayli basis. Very much forward to be back sometime soon.

Most scenic and quiet accomodation in Santa Teresa

This Oasis is recommended to everyone who would enjoy some quiet time but still be close to the beach and all amenities. Beautiful location with a breathtaking view over the ocean. Wake up with the sunrise and enjoy a drink on the big patio. Great construction and design of the house! On the downside, the place lacks some furnishing and kitchen supplies. For instance, we had only one chair available which was unconveniant to eat together. Also there were only two wine glasses and no other glasses. Also, for a place as luxurious as this, the cleanliness was not sufficiant. We only stayed two days but our beds were not properly made (the sheets were simply folded and laid next to the bed, also they had stains from prior visitors...) and the overall cleaning was not perfect. However, I would totally recommend the place for the mentioned reasons. Also, Kristi was super helpful and friendly.

Breathtaking!!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here during a surf trip. This is our first time in Santa Teresa, it was absolutely gorgeous! This house is by far the best part of my trip. Sam was absolutely amazing such a great host will help you with anything you need. Waking up to the beautiful views every morning was beyond breathtaking. Words cannot describe our experience here I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested. My boyfriend and I will be coming back to Santa Teresa in the future with our families and we will most definitely be staying here. Thank you Sam For everything your property is gorgeous!

Beautiful, clean, and special experience staying up among the trees!

The treehouse is truely stunning. It is cleaned every day, leaving it a nice oasis to come back to after a day at the beach. The hill up to the house is large, but worth it because it is cooler up there and nice to get away from the busy street. Every day some type of wildlife came to visit in nearby trees so we got to watch them while drinking our morning coffee! Sam was very helpful with suggestions or coordinating activities for us! It was a great, great experience!

I want to live here

The place was a dream. My girlfriend and I stayed for a night and couldn't have asked for more. It is the perfect romantic get away. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. Sam was the perfect host and took care of everything for us.. Thank you Sam.. We miss you! Love, David and Emily
