NEIGHBORHOOD

Milan's Centrale district is a vibrant urban hub centered around the monumental Stazione Centrale, one of the city's main gateways. This neighborhood is not only a transit hub, but also an area rich in history, architecture, and culture, surrounded by neighboring areas offering numerous tourist attractions.

Central Station and Piazza Duca d'Aosta

Central Station, inaugurated in 1931, is a masterpiece of neoclassical and art deco architecture. Its imposing façade dominates Piazza Duca d'Aosta, a spacious pedestrian area often hosting events and art installations. The station itself is an attraction, with its majestic galleries and architectural details.

Cascina Pozzobonelli

A short distance from the station, towards the Caiazzo metro stop, lies the remains of the 15th-century Cascina Pozzobonelli, originally a summer residence for the Pozzobonelli family. Today, only a chapel and part of the portico remain, offering a fascinating glimpse into Milan's Renaissance past.

Sanctuary of San Camillo de Lellis

Continuing toward Porta Venezia, along Via Torriani, you'll come across the Sanctuary of San Camillo de Lellis, a neo-Gothic building dedicated to the saint and his followers, who came to Milan in the late 16th century to care for the sick. The church is known for its distinctive architecture and evocative interior.

Corso Buenos Aires

Southeast of the station lies Corso Buenos Aires, one of Milan's main shopping streets. With over 350 shops, it's a shopper's paradise, offering a wide range of boutiques, department stores, and historic cafés.

Porta Venezia and the Indro Montanelli Public Gardens

Continuing along Corso Buenos Aires, you'll reach Porta Venezia, a historic area characterized by neoclassical and Art Nouveau buildings. Here you'll find the Indro Montanelli Public Gardens, Milan's oldest public park, home to the Natural History Museum and the Ulrico Hoepli Planetarium. The park is an ideal place to relax and enjoy a stroll among the greenery.

Porta Nuova and Piazza Gae Aulenti

West of the station lies the modern Porta Nuova district, a symbol of contemporary Milan. The area's centerpiece is Piazza Gae Aulenti, an elevated plaza surrounded by futuristic skyscrapers, fountains, and art installations. From here, you can admire the Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest), two residential towers covered with over 2,000 plant species, an innovative example of sustainable architecture.

Isola District

North of Porta Nuova lies the Isola district, an area that has managed to maintain its identity despite its proximity to modern urban developments. Known for its narrow streets, artisan workshops, traditional restaurants, and a vibrant music scene, Isola offers an authentic, bohemian atmosphere.

Conclusion

Milan's Centrale district and its surrounding areas offer a fascinating combination of history, culture, and modernity. From majestic historic architecture to innovative neighborhoods, this area of the city is brimming with attractions to suit every visitor's taste.

GET AROUND

Via Soperga 44 is located in the northeast quadrant of Milan, in the heart of the NoLo district, near Viale Brianza and close to the Central Station. The area is lively, well-served, and perfectly connected to the rest of the city thanks to an extensive public transportation network, including buses, trams, three subway lines, and numerous rail and airport connections.

Bus and Trams

Via Soperga is served by several bus and tram lines that offer excellent coverage of the urban fabric, making it easy to travel to the city center, universities, and other Milanese neighborhoods:

Bus 42: runs along Via Soperga and connects the area with Bicocca and Greco.

Bus 60: accessible from Viale Tunisia, it connects with San Babila via Buenos Aires and Porta Venezia.

Bus 81: from Via Venini, it connects with Lambrate FS.

Buses 90 and 91 (circular lines): These run along the outer ring road, making them very useful for interchanges with other metro lines and train stations.

Bus 92: Connects Bovisa with Viale Isonzo, making it useful for cross-city connections without passing through the city center.

Tram

Line 1: Connects Greco with Piazza della Scala, passing through the city center, and is useful for reaching the Duomo.

Line 5: Connects Ortica with Ospedale Maggiore, also serving the Piazzale Loreto area.

Line 33: This circular line runs through Viale Lunigiana, offering quick connections to Porta Venezia and Lambrate.

The nearest stops are on Via Venini, Via Settembrini, Viale Brianza, and Piazzale Loreto, all less than a 5-minute walk away.

Subway

Via Soperga is strategically located between three metro lines:

Line M1 (Red): Loreto stop, about a 7-minute walk away. Quickly connects to San Babila, Duomo, Cadorna, and Rho Fiera.

Line M2 (Green): Caiazzo and Centrale FS stops, both about a 5-7 minute walk away. It offers direct connections to CittĂ  Studi, Garibaldi, Lambrate, Cadorna, and Assago.

Line M3 (Yellow): Centrale FS stop, useful for reaching Repubblica, Duomo, Crocetta, Porta Romana, and San Donato.

Line M4 (Blue)

Although Via Soperga is not directly served by an M4 stop, it can be reached in about 10-15 minutes using the following routes:

From Centrale FS: M3 to Duomo, change to M1 at San Babila, then M4 (or directly from San Babila if taking the M1 from Loreto).

Most useful stop: San Babila (M1/M4), where there is a direct interchange with the M4.

Getting to the Train Stations

Central Station: easily reached on foot in 7-10 minutes, or one stop on the M2 or M3 line.

Garibaldi FS Station: M2 line from Caiazzo or Centrale FS, 2 stops, about 10 minutes.

Cadorna Station: M2 line from Caiazzo or Centrale FS, towards Abbiategrasso/Assago, about 15-20 minutes.

Lambrate FS Station: M2 line towards Cologno or Gessate, 3 stops from Caiazzo, 10 minutes.

Porta Romana / Porta Vittoria Station: reachable via the M3 line (Crocetta) or the 90/91 circular buses with interchange.

Getting to the Airports

Milan Linate Airport: M2 line from Caiazzo to Centrale, then M3 to Duomo, then M1 to San Babila, and M4 to Linate.

Milan Malpensa Airport:

Malpensa Express from Centrale FS, direct train every 30 minutes.

Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport: Orio Shuttle or Terravision shuttle buses depart every 30 minutes from Centrale FS.

In summary

Via Soperga 44 enjoys a highly strategic location, nestled within a dense public transportation network that includes buses, trams, three metro lines (M1, M2, M3), and easy access to the new M4 line. Its proximity to Centrale Station is a major advantage, offering rapid connections to the entire metropolitan area, universities, the city's main attractions, and the airports of Linate, Malpensa, and Orio al Serio. An ideal location for those who want to live or stay in a central, dynamic, and perfectly connected setting.
