The Fold - Unique Cabin Nestled in Nature
Escape to nature at Cabins at Ffridd Bach, a handcrafted retreat beneath the dark skies of rural Wales. Designed for relaxation, adventure, and quality time together, our wildlife-friendly cabin offers a cosy yet spacious escape, perfect for couples, families, or a solo retreat. Whether you’re gathering around the fire, soaking in a luxurious outdoor roll-top bath, or stargazing under some of the clearest night skies in the UK, this is a place to slow down and connect.
Built with comfort and simplicity in mind, the cabin sleeps up to four guests in a thoughtfully designed space that maximises cos iness and charm. The super king-size bed in the main area ensures a luxurious night’s sleep, while a mezzanine loft bed and a single bed nook make the space ideal for families with children or a romantic break (note mezzanine not suitable for young children due to steep stairs). Every detail—from the soft linens to the ambient lighting—has been chosen to create an inviting and restful atmosphere.
The kitchen is compact but well-equipped, offering everything you need for preparing meals with ease. You’ll find a Ninja oven, a gas hob, fridge with small freezer compartment, and all essential cookware, allowing you to enjoy simple breakfasts or hearty dinners after a day outdoors. If dining al fresco is more your style, the covered veranda provides the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening drink while taking in the tranquil surroundings.
One of the highlights of your stay is the outdoor roll-top bath on the deck—where you can sink into warm water beneath the open sky. Whether you choose to start your morning with a refreshing soak or unwind at night under the stars, it’s the perfect way to fully immerse yourself in nature.
As a wildlife-friendly cabin, the space is designed to complement the local environment rather than disrupt it. You’ll be surrounded by native trees, wildflowers, and quiet meadows, where birds, butterflies and hares are resident. The area is known for its dark sky designation, meaning on clear nights, the stars put on a dazzling display—no telescope required.
For those who love outdoor adventures, scenic walking trails begin right from the doorstep, leading to rolling hills and quiet country roads. We provide detailed local guides with recommendations for the best hikes, swimming spots, farm shops, and charming villages nearby. Prefer to keep things slow? The log burner makes for a cosy night in, perfect for storytelling, journaling, or simply unwinding with a book.

Zu Gast bei Josephine

In a previous iteration of life, as founders of White Peak Shepherd Huts Josephine and Glenn lived in the Peak District where they crafted their beloved shepherd huts for folk up and down the land. But sea and mountains called, and when their dream small holding came up for sale they took the huge decision to hang up their hut building hats and off they headed for adventures new!
Blending their keen eye for design with the same care and craftsmanship that made their huts so cherished, they created The Fold—a unique and inviting country cabin. Thoughtfully designed to complement its surroundings, it draws from the materials seen in farm buildings and barns scattered across the landscape, ensuring it feels like a natural part of the countryside.
Now, Josephine and Glenn don’t just live in this peaceful patch of Wales—they get to share it with others, inviting guests to experience the quiet beauty, wide horizons, and simple joys of rural life.

The village of Llangernyw itself is steeped in history with St Digain’s Church standing as a testament to its rich heritage. This 13th-century church is home to one of the oldest living trees in Europe—a 4,000-year-old yew that has silently witnessed centuries of change.
