Quiet, rural hideaway in traditional old Schoolhouse, right on the edge of loch.
Set in private grounds, the Old Schoolhouse has a commanding view over Loch Grimshader on the east side of the Isle of Lewis. This four-bedroom property, over two floors has been tastefully renovated and provides excellent facilities for up to 8 guests. It has three upstairs bedrooms and one downstairs. There is a bathroom upstairs and a wetroom downstairs. The kitchen/dining room is fully fitted out with all your requirements for cooking and eating including a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and fridge-freezer as well as ample cupboard space and a dining alcove. Th tiled wet-room downstairs has a mains-water supply shower providing good water pressure for an invigorating shower as well as toiletries and towels. The upstairs bathroom has an enamel bath with an over-the-bath mains-water supply shower. Towels and hand wash are also provided.
Bedroom 1. The smaller bedroom on the north-facing wall is the cosiest room and the small double bed is made up with traditional sheets and blankets for that authentic, old Scottish experience. There is a chest of drawers and a hanging rail and additional shelves for storage.
Bedroom 2. This room looks out over Loch Grimshader and catches the sunrise to the east. The room is fitted with a double bed, chest of drawers, bedside tables and a hanging rail with additional shelves for storage.
Bedroom 3. This is the largest bedroom looking out over the village of Ranish including the shoreline and is fitted with a double bed, bedside tables, wardrobe, storage unit and small table.
Bedroom 4. This is the downstairs bedroom and looks out over the garden and the village with a view down to the shore. The room is fitted with a double bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers, hanging rail with additional shelves for storage.

Sitting room/library. This room is situated at the front of the house with windows to the east and west. The large bookcase contains an extensive library of books including a wide range of topics of fiction and non-fiction. The room has comfortable seating for relaxing and reading and a wall-mounted smart television.
Utility room. There is a small utility room by the back door with a sink and a washing machine, iron, ironing board and clothes airer.
The house is 7 miles from Stornoway which is the main town on the island where you will find two supermarkets and many small, local shops. There is a sports centre, banks, chemist/pharmacy, butchers and fishmonger. The island is serviced by the Calmac ferry service providing two daily passages to the mainland and Loganair provide flights to and from Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh as well as flights to Benbecula to the south. There is also a Calmac ferry service to Tarbert in Harris and sailings to North Uist departing from Leverburgh in Harris.
The island is host to many tourist attractions, including stunning beaches and rugged landscapes as well as the world-famous Callanish standing stone and the Broch. The island is also the best access point to travel to St Kilda and regular cruises are available but need to be booked in advance as they are in great demand.
