This idyllic village has grown from the picturesque harbour (0.4 miles), where children can enjoy crabbing whilst you admire the pretty views of the convergence of the Rivers Taw and Torridge or meander through many independent shops and artisanal eateries. From the harbour, jump aboard the seasonal ferry to reach the sandy dunes of Instow, 4.5 miles away. Keen walkers and cyclists can join up with the traffic-free Tarka Trail from Bideford, 3 miles away, following a disused railway line, to be rewarded with superb coastal and woodland views.
