Enjoying a quiet spot in the bustling fishing village of Appledore, this characterful, contemporary house is the perfect base for a long-awaited family get-together or escape with friends, uncovering the true beauty of North Devon. As charming and quaint as they come, Appledore is tucked away on a hillside along the incredible North Devon coastline. This idyllic village has grown from the picturesque harbour (0.4 miles), where children can enjoy crabbing whilst you admire the pretty views of the convergence of the Rivers Taw and Torridge or meander through many independent shops and artisanal eateries. From the harbour, jump aboard the seasonal ferry to reach the sandy dunes of Instow, 4.5 miles away. Keen walkers and cyclists can join up with the traffic-free Tarka Trail from Bideford, 3 miles away, following a disused railway line, to be rewarded with superb coastal and woodland views.
Combining original features, including a striking tiled floor with sumptuous, contemporary touches, the light and bright hallway welcomes you into this home-away-from-home. It sets a wonderfully homely ambience that carries through to the large open-plan kitchen/diner, which is bursting with sophisticated touches. On a fine evening, throw open the beautiful floor-to-ceiling French-style patio doors to cook and dine amongst the soothing sounds of Appledore harbour in the distance. Back through the hallway, follow the warmth of the roaring wood burner into the cosy lounge, which boasts quintessentially coastal hues that perfectly blend into the colours of your surrounding scenery. The quaint snug is the perfect spot for children to unwind at the end of a busy day’s adventure. There’s also a handy utility room on this level, complete with a shower, perfect for washing off sandy toes. Across the first and second floors, you’ll find five beautifully peaceful bedrooms boasting sumptuous soft linens and soothing neutral hues. There is one super-king-size bedroom, two super-king-size zip-and-link bedrooms (which can be made up as two twins) and two king-size bedrooms to choose from. The stylish and sleek contemporary shower room and bathroom provide everything you need to feel refreshed.
The large, enclosed garden is a haven of tranquillity; dine alfresco with a glass of something chilled on the pretty patio whilst children let off some steam before bedtime playing garden games on the large lawn. Outside, you’ll also find private parking for two cars, with additional on-street parking nearby subject to availability.
