Westgate itself is a charming village in Weardale, set within the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a region known for its rolling hills, dramatic moorlands, and breathtaking scenery. The Weardale Way, which passes through Westgate, is a popular long-distance walking route offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

Just a few miles away, the market town of Stanhope offers independent shops, cosy cafes, and the fascinating Durham Dales Centre, which showcases local crafts and produce.
