Creggan - a large coastal family holiday home

If you are looking for a family break in a peaceful setting it is hard to beat Creggan, with stunning views north towards the Point of Ayre and Ramsey bay and rural views towards North Barrule, the Isle of Man’s second highest peak. The house has its own private driveway with ample parking for 3 cars and is set in its own large private garden at the start of the Maughold headland.

With 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the property sleeps up to 7 people. The spacious lounge makes the most of position of the house to take in the differing views. A double bedroom on the ground floor along with a ground floor bathroom offers a solution if one or two members of the group should struggle with stairs. Upstairs there are 3 more bedrooms, two doubles, and a large single bed.

A short walk away is the beach at Port-E-Vullen, ideal for a sea swim or a spot of kayaking or paddleboarding! Catch the Manx Electric Railway into Ramsey or Laxey from its stop nearby and enjoy many beautiful walks in the area.

In nearby Ramsey there is plenty to do and see. A beautiful sandy beach stretching for what seems like forever and fabulous walks for you to enjoy are not too far away. Mooragh Park is also just around the corner, featuring excellent leisure facilities, where visitors can find tennis courts, a bowling green and a crazy golf course. Watersport activities are available on the lake in the summer too! To top it off, Mooragh Park is a registered Dark Skies Site, from which you may even be able to see the northern lights on the horizon when the conditions are just right!

The Grove Museum, just outside of Ramsey town centre, provides an insight into the life of a Victorian family who built the house in the 20th Century. There are other Victorian attractions in Ramsey, such as the Queen's Pier and the aforementioned Manx Electric Railway.

Excellent house for larger family.

Creggan is a lovely house, in an excellent location, with fabulous views over the sea, mountains, and meadows. This was an ideal house for a week’s vacation, near to Ramsey and the TT Race Course (5 mins by car, 45 min walk), and exceedingly well equipped with quality accessories. More like a home from home. Nice coastal path walks accessible immediately from the property, and within 15 mins walk to the local Manx Electric Railway station (Belle View). The 4 bed house was initially booked for a family of seven, but only five went, so ample space all round. In summary, an excellent house, which we would recommend to anyone.

Excellent Pet Friendly House, Close to Ramsey

We had a lovely stay at Creggan. The house is plenty spacious and has lots of amenities including a washer/dryer and dishwasher. There is a downstairs bedroom which is very convenient for those with limited mobility. The house is a 5 minute drive from Ramsey, and around a 25/30 minute drive to Douglas. Right next to the house is a public footpath which takes you around the coast. The customer service from Island escapes was exceptional.

A true oasis on the cliffs

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The location is outstanding with views to Snaefell on one side, and the sea and distant lighthouse on the other. The proximity to the little beach below, and cliff path right next to the driveway made exploring easy and we always had the area to ourselves. The house is lovely too, very warm and spacious, but it needs a little TLC as the 1970s dining table set has worn seats, the kitchen has quite a lot of old kitchenware that is past its usefulness, and the bed mattress also needs replacing as the springs are poking through, but only in one of the rooms. We tripped over the rugs a few times, so they need either anchoring or replacing as they’re also old. If there were cushions on the sofa and a smart TV with a good broadband strength, then this property would be perfect as the Freeview was only intermittently available. It was genuinely hard to leave at the end of the week. The gardener also does a great job of managing the large amount of hedges and lawn so we got to enjoy those areas too.

Family Getaway

Upon arrival at Creggan we were all very pleased with our choice of property for this break away, house and gardens were all in A1 condition and we just knew the inside would be just as impressive, the welcome pack was very nice with lots of local produce in and the layout of house both downstairs and upstairs was perfect. We wouldn’t hesitate in booking again in the future and I’ve already sent details to a friend who is interested in a stay there.
