AMORE RENTALS - Villa Olivella with Pool, Garden and Sea View
Retreat to the beauty and elegance of a lavishly restored historic home with dazzling sea views at the foot of Monte Solaro on the island of Capri.
Shaped as much by its history as the surrounding landscapes, Villa Olivella is an extraordinary villa, remarkable both for its past and its aesthetic beauty. Built by the Italian archaeologist Amedeo Maiuri whilst working on the excavations at Villa Jovis, the six-bedroom villa has been exquisitely refurbished in a style that blends classic beauty with contemporary design and comfort. Located at the foot of Monte Solaro, Villa Olivella is in Anacapri, the quieter, less frequented western side of the island of Capri.
Set amidst 2000m² of vegetation with holm oak, olive and carob trees, the villa is perfect for whiling away lazy days outstretched on a sun lounger by the gorgeous infinity pool, or in the jacuzzi. At aperitivo time, relocate to one of the magnificent shaded terraces and enjoy mesmerising views over Monte Solaro and the entire island while you sip on a glass of chilled wine.
Tailormade for relaxing breakfasts on the main panoramic terrace, or relaxing and chatting in its outdoor lounge space, this is a villa designed for outdoor living. The villa also has its own mini open-air gym.
Interiors extend over 200m² on two floors, providing spacious and stylishly furnished living space. Gentle curves and arches lead from one room to another, and vast panoramic windows flood rooms with light. Throughout the villa, the distinctive décor is carefully designed to reflect the twin themes of archaeology and the colours of Capri, with bold use of vivid reds, blues and yellows, and striking accessories and objects d’art with their own fascinating backstory.
Entry from the street is via a small flight of stairs into a reception area. From here, a simply furnished living room has sofa seating and a large fireplace, a welcome addition during the cooler months of the year. The room has direct access onto the main furnished panoramic terrace and, through a softly curved archway echoing the exquisite curves of the window beyond, into the dining room. Off the dining room, the somewhat retro but eye-catching vivid red kitchen is equipped with everything you need to whip up a delicious Italian feast.
BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
Four of the six double bedrooms (all 14m²) are on the ground floor, and two on the first floor. Each one is uniquely designed, although all reflect the twin themes of Capri and archaeology in their colours, structure and design. Amenities include a double bed, en-suite private bathroom, bedside tables, lamps, a desk, chairs, blackout curtains, a mini bar, safe, satellite TV, hairdryer and air conditioning.
• Bedroom 1: Villa Jovis. Taking its name from the villa restoration that Maiuri was involved in, the red bedroom has a garden view.
• Bathroom 1: with bathtub.
• Bedroom 2: Marina Blu. Dedicated to the two arrival points on Capri, Marina Grande and Marina Piccola, the blue room has a sea view and direct access to the panoramic patio just behind the pool area.
• Bathroom 2: with shower.
• Bedroom 3: Damecuta. The room pays tribute to the discovery by Maiuri in 1937 of the remains of Villa Damecuta, one of the 12 villas constructed by the Roman Emperor Tiberius. Garden view.
• Bathroom 3: with shower.
• Bedroom 4: Monte Solaro. Direct access to a large terrace with views of Monte Solaro and the extraordinary Anacapri landscape. Sea view.
• Bathroom 4: shower, and designer sink reminiscent of a Doric column.
• Bedroom 5: Mos Maiuri. Tribute to Maiuri with showcase amphora visible in flooring. Direct access to garden. Garden and sea view.
• Bathroom 5: with shower.
• Bedroom 6: Piazzetta, seen on Capri as a meeting point of customs, habits and stories. Garden view and direct access to the garden.
• Bathroom 6: with shower.

Holiday at this magnificent historic villa on Capri with a group of friends
Peaceful retreat on the island of Capri with easy access to shops and local transport
• The nearest shops are 700m away; restaurant – 1 km; bus stop – 1km.
• Capri town centre – 3km.
• Nearest beach – the stony beach of Spiaggia Bagni di Tiberio, Capri.
• Take a hike on Monte Solaro for some spectacular views or take the chairlift and enjoy great views en route. The chairlift starts near Piazza Vittoria, Anacapri’s main square.
• Visit the house and beautiful gardens of Villa San Michele, owned by a Swedish doctor and author, Axel Munthe.
• Other local attractions include the Casa Rossa Museum (Museo Casa Rossa di Anacapri) and the Church of St. Michael (Chiesa di San Michele).
• Hop on a ferry to the mainland to explore Sorrento (19km), Positano (32km), Amalfi (37km) and Ravello (41km).
• Naples Capodichino International Airport – 41km.
Getting to Capri, the best time to go and other attractions
• Ferries depart regularly from Naples and Sorrento on the mainland to Marina Grande on Capri, and there are also routes from Positano, Amalfi and Salerno. From there, it’s a short ride by bus or taxi to Anacapri. For an even more scenic option, you can travel by helicopter from Naples, Rome, Sicily and Sardinia.
• With more restaurants and generally livelier than Anacapri, Capri town centre is a good option for evenings out and for glitzy designer window-shopping on the Via Camerelle.
• Capri town gets extremely busy in peak season, and many tourists travelling from the mainland don’t venture further than the town. Anacapri is significantly quieter, but the best time to visit the island is still outside the peak months of July and August.
• There are several attractions beyond the main sights in Anacapri and Capri town centre. Enjoy some extraordinary views from Belvedere della Migliara in the south of the island and spectacular coastal scenery from the Punta Carena Lighthouse, one of the oldest in Italy.
