Tucked away in a quiet corner of Herefordshire in The Marches are Monnington House, Garden Cottage and The Cider Mill providing a very peaceful and private escape. The properties location is almost equidistant from the cathedral city of Hereford and the book lovers town of Hay on Wye. Spread out over three properties there are 12 double bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. There is a ground floor bedroom in Garden Cottage which adjoins Monnington House and is specifically for less mobile guests. The Cider Mill, just a one minute walk across the field from the main house is all on one level save for a small step up into the porch and caters brilliantly for those with mobility issues.
There is a fabulous working kitchen in Monnington House which is geared up for numbers and catering. The dining area seats up to 24 at one long table. LIkewise the alfresco dining area seats up to 24 and is carefully lit for evening suppers. On the terrace weber style bbqs and parasols are provided from early May to the end of September. Catering is available by prior arrangement. There is a large south facing terrace with outdoor soft seating for you to enjoy whilst having a drink; reading a book or playing board games.
We carry forward a philosophy of hospitality: the feeling of staying in a family home surrounded by understated elegance and beauty. All properties enjoy private peaceful gardens and grounds of more than 2 acres plus a playing field with 2 football goals. The hamlet of Monnington on Wye offers undisturbed tranquillity and beauty and yet is connected to many local activities, pubs and cafes and places to visit all within 20 minutes.. There is a superb farm shop at the top of the lane. A short walk through the cider orchards is the River Wye.
On site there is plenty to do - enjoy the large 2 acres of gardens and grounds which are private and quiet and play football on the huge playing field. For rainy days and winter nights enjoy the rustic table tennis room and the games room with pool table and table football in the outbuildings. Bring your fleece and wrap up!
There is wonderful walking straight from the door to suit all abilities and ages.
