Spacious family house in the Telegraph Hill Conservation Area, Inner London.
If you want to bring your family to explore London this summer, this house is ideal house.
4 bedrooms, large kitchen, large family bathroom, sitting room and garden in a family friendly part of inner south east London.
Telegraph Hill is a conservation area in Zone 2, with great connections to central London:
- A 10 minute walk to New Cross Gate, and from there it's one stop to London Bridge
- 20 minutes to Shoreditch and the City
- Half an hour to the West End.
And yes, free parking... :)
The space 🏠
The house is our family home and was thoughtfully designed by one of the owners, who is an architect.
The ground floor has a large sitting room with herringbone parquet flooring , large sash windows and an open fire. There is 1 large sofa, 1 mid sized sofa and an old fashioned wing-back chair. It can comfortably seat all guests.
The hallway leads to a large kitchen with all modern amenities, underfloor heating, a pantry and large wooden table.
The kitchen opens out to a large garden, which is in 4 sections - the initial seating area, a more secluded seating area, the lawn and the food growing section.
Upstairs, there is a large bathroom with generous bath, waterfall shower, underfloor heating and large concrete sink.
There are two bedrooms with double beds, including a super king, and one bedroom with bunk beds. We can also make a cot bed available on request. And we can leave a mattress out so that you can set up another sleeping area in the single bedroom.
We have a family cat 😺
Apple - who will be in the house while we are away. He is well trained and can access the garden via a cat-flap in the kitchen door. However, he will need to be fed twice a day.
If you don't have a family pet, we understand this may not be something you'd necessarily want to do, so please bear this in mind when thinking about booking the house.
Guest access ➡
You will be able to access all of the house except for the basement floor (separate entrance) and the attic, which will be used for our storage.
Other things to note 🔔
We want you to feel at home, relaxed and comfortable. Please do keep in mind we will return to live in the house at the end of the summer. Please treat the house respectfully. Thank you.
- We will have someone come round on a weekly basis to water the garden, which we can organise with you once a booking is confirmed.
- Please can you leave the rubbish bins out for collection on Tuesday evening / early Wednesday morning.
- We will have a handyman on notice if there are any issues.
The wider area 🏙
Telegraph Hill is a classic London community. Beautiful Victorian town houses with mixed tenure - social and privately owned due to the centuries long tradition of charitable activity on the Hill (see the Haberdashers).
It's relatively quiet and very family oriented, owing to the 3 schools located on the Hill. There's green space very close by, access to central London and to neighbouring areas like Brockley, Peckham, Camberwell, Brixton, Herne Hill and Greenwich, for example.
On the Hill itself there is the Farmer's Market in the park every Saturday, where you can buy fresh produce, as well as have a coffee and breakfast.
And at the top of the Hill is the Hill Station Cafe, which is the community hub. You can eat there as well - including Dinner for 100, which is the local pizza place - and they host musical events from time to time. And there are a couple of pubs on the Hill - Skehans and the Earl of Derby.
We chose to live here specifically for these reasons and think it has a lot to offer people who want to experience London but not be right in the thick of it - from the cultural and historic attractions in town to the cultural diversity, bars, exhibitions, markets and music on the fringes.
