White Moss is a 4-star Gold awarded luxury Lake District cottage located in Windermere Village in the heart of the English Lake District. White Moss sleeps up to 12 guests in 5 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. White Moss welcomes hen nights, family celebrations, anniversary parties and group holidays. We offer a choice of break lengths: 3-night weekends, great value mid-week deals and 7-night packages. White Moss is a fantastic choice for your large luxury cottage in Windermere.

White Moss features 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (plus a downstairs toilet). Both the lounge and dining rooms have wood-burning. The well-equipped kitchen has both an AGA and a gas/electric range cooker. We have parking for 6 cars. There is access to a fast EV charger located on the maintenance building adjacent to Boston House.

We welcome up to 4 dogs at the property. There is an additional charge per dog, which can be added at check-out.

A weekend at White Moss

Excellent facilities, well equipped throughout (including dining, glassware and cutlery); beautiful bath/shower rooms! Bedrooms clean, bright and roomy. A delight on all fronts.

Decent stay as a group of 9 - WhiteMoss

A superb location in Windermere Shops, public transport, and walks on the doorstep. A good sized property great for large get togethers. Booked direct and communication from the owners was fantastic. We stayed in Whitemoss as a group of 9 there was plenty of space for us all and enough of everything for everyone staying. The property was generally clean and tidy. Carpets in the bathrooms was a bit off putting and probably needed replacing. The hot tub whilst a nice extra wasn’t very powerful jets were a bit lacklustre so, we only used it once. Some items in the kitchen need attention one kettle not working and only half the toaster worked during our stay. Overall a good base for a large group gathering but could use a little tlc in places.

Thanks for reviewing. It's great to hear you had a great time. We replaced the kettle and toaster as soon as we received this. Kettles break down regularly, which is why we have 2 in every property. The hot tub is a commercial design. Our external maintenance company has checked the jets, and all seem to be working normally. Thanks again, Andy (owner)

Great property, lovely area. We were 3 families and able to accommodate the sleeping arrangements sufficiently. A little tricky with a room for 3 and a room for 4, but we managed! Hot tub was a nice touch too. Thanks for a lovely stay

Great weekend

We had a fantastic weekend at White Moss. Andy and Barbara were incredibly helpful on the run up by answering all of the questions we had as we were booking for a large group (26) across two houses. The house had everything we could have needed and the outdoor space was perfect for enjoying the sun. The location was perfect and was only a short walk away from shops, restaurants and the lake. We would definitely return and would recommend this property to anyone looking to host a family gathering or weekend away with friends.

Great house

Perfect accommodation for all our family, children and grandchildren. This house has everything you need and is in a great location for exploring the Lake District. My only gripe would be that the bed pillows were not comfortable, very flat, but this did not impact our enjoyment of the house and the area.

Great place to stay in Windermere

Had a really enjoyable stay. House was ideal for a party of 12 - a mix of adults and children (who loved the space in the house). Owners were friendly and helpful. Well positioned for the amenities in Windermere, the only slight negative was getting out onto the main road (particularly if you’re turning right!). Other than that, a great place to enjoy the Lakes.

A brilliant base for a group walking weekend in Windermere, The Lake District

Fantastically located and equipped house, ideal for a group trip to the Lakes. Andrew was a brilliant communicator and all the information was provided in a clear way in advance of our stay, he was incredibly helpful throughout the booking process and responsive to any questions we had. The house itself had everything needed and was spotless on arrival. The hot tub was an extra special treat after a day in the fells. The location was perfect, within easy walking distance to Windermere and access to the South Lakes and beyond. It's also only a 2 minute walk from Windermere train station for those travelling without cars. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great place to stay for large groups in The Lake District.

The whole property was clean. 6 car parking slot. And very well equipped. Kitchen was full stocked with utensils. We will definitely come back and recommend anyone who wants to spend time in lakeside.

Fantastic place, fantastic value

I honestly worried that White Moss (on The Terrace, Windermere) would be too good to be true. We got a fantastic price for a midweek stay for 7 people, and found the place absolutely spotless. The hot tub was great, the kitchen, dining room and living space are all ideal, and the bedrooms are mostly quite spacious. The location is unparalleled, right next to Windermere station, so easy access to both trains and buses (including to nearby Bowness and Ambleside). The team were responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, White Moss was fantastically good value and we would be thrilled to stay there again, or to recommend it to others.

Great stay, couple of niggly easily sorted things, ie broken shelf in one of the fridges, seal on hot tub lid. Absolutely brilliant for family get together and great price.would recommend to all. Also everyone in the other four properties on the terrace spoke to each other.

A lovely winter stay

The cottage was so homely, it was clean on arrival. Details before checking were great didn’t need to contact anyone for anything. Hot tub was checked in the mornings. Town with lovely pubs was just a short walk away and we managed a lovely walk up orrest head in the snow! Andy the owner was lovely and contacted us on regards to the snow which was highly appreciated! All in all would definitely recommend as a place to stay in any season! We will definitely be returning!

Andrew and Barbara Cheetham purchased White Moss in 2010 completing their collection of 5 properties on The Terrace in Windermere. This is the first time all of the properties have been under one ownership in their 170 year (plus) history.

We fell in love with the Terrace when we purchased Alice Howe in 2006. It wasn't long before we embarked on a journey to acquire all 5 houses on The Terrace. Our vision is to create a space where our guests can come together to create memories, we do everything we can to make that happen.
