This historic neighborhood was the setting for Britain's first permanent playhouse, which was located on Curtain Road. William Shakespeare's theater company first performed Henry IV and Romeo and Juliet right in the heart of present day Old Street. Another neighborhood landmark is St. Luke's Church, which opened in the early 18th century and presently enjoys a new life as a music centre that hosts rehearsals and community events. Old Street has a flourishing restaurant scene, and there are plenty of pubs where you can unwind after work. The Northern line serves the neighborhood, and it's also easy to get around Old Street by bus.
