This characterful thatched cottage, situated in south Warwickshire, is an idyllic getaway for couples, friends and small families looking for a self-catering stay. Spend time in this lovely cottage cooking up hearty meals on the Aga, snuggling up in front of the wood burner or enjoying the sunshine in the private garden. Being Grade II listed, the cottage is full of original features and charms, including exposed beams, uneven floors upstairs, low windows and sloping ceilings. The three well-appointed bedrooms provide all guests with a good nightâs sleep, whilst the downstairs bathroom gives the option of a relaxing soak in the freestanding bath or a quick hot shower before heading out for the day.
The local dog-friendly pub, almost on the doorstep is within staggering distance of Porthkerry, situated just across the road, and for a special meal, why not try the Michelin Star restaurant in Whatcote, just a mile away? Nearby Tysoe has a shop selling local produce and wine on tap. There is also a great walk up to Tysoe windmill with its wonderful views over the Cotswolds. There are many lovely country and village walks right from the doorstep so you can spend time enjoying the countryside or exploring many of the nearby attractions.
The village of Oxhill lies in the rolling countryside of south Warwickshire, close to the border of Oxfordshire and the north Cotswolds in the area known as the Vale of the Red Horse. Itâs in a great location to see many different areas and attractions as it lies halfway between Stratford-upon-Avon and Banbury.
The beautiful towns and villages of the north Cotswolds can be reached in approximately 10 minutesâ drive where you can explore Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold or Woodstock, home to Blenheim Palace. The National Trustâs Upton House and Gardens, Charlecote Park, Farnborough and Hidcote are all within easy reach. Compton Verney is just over 5 miles away, where you can discover the art gallery with its many collections and exhibitions, and enjoy the park with its labyrinth, bird hide, pond dipping and playground.
For more outdoor fun, head to Burton Dassett Hills, the perfect country park for walks, flying a kite or eating a picnic whilst admiring the views of rolling hills and open countryside. Within 20-30 minutesâ drive are the market towns of Banbury and Royal Leamington Spa, which are full of high street and independent shops, pubs, cafĂ©s, and restaurants. Also, a similar distance is Shakespeareâs Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick with its famous castle, and a little further Bicester Village, famous for its shopping village.
