Great but probably too small for 7 men.

Daniel, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. I would agree that we are not ideally set up for more than 6 single males. Each of our apartment has 4 bedrooms with 6 beds - 2 doubles and 4 singles. If you are more than 6 all wanting a bed each we can provide one or to full size extra beds but depending on your outlook, this can be too much

Host was great! Place was very clean and cleaned daily. It's a beautiful house and the hot tub is awesome!Location is also very good, but it is not ski in/ski out. If you have really really good conditions, MAYBE you can ski in. However, I don't see any way you can ski out even with a ton of snow. So if you are expecting ski in ski out, it isn't.

Eric thank you for your comments. You are correct that ski in ski out is not so easy, I don't believe we claim this anywhere on our marketing. It is still technically possible to do it although the development of the Parque Farellones and the parking close by has made it a lot more complicated than it used to be. A short 5 minute walk to/from the Embudo lift in Farellones is definitely the easiest option.

Wonderful place Casa Farellones

Our visit to Casa Farellones was wonderful. The most incredible is not only the exceptional quality of the house and surroundings but also how this generates a magical atmosphere to share with the family! We are already planning our next visit to this special place, thanks for being such a good host!

Best Chilean ski experience to date

I've been to Chile for many ski trips during the past 30 years, and this was by far my best experience in terms of accomodations. Apart from the tasteful decoration and wonderful views, the installations are well above average for Chilean rental or hotel standards. The lower unit was perfect for our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 teenagers), with very comfortable rooms and large kitchen and social area, as well as the outdoor area and hot tub which both kids and adults enjoyed. Our host, William, was always available to help with anything we needed. Highly recommended!

70’s living

The house has that tired feeling and is pretty dirty w dirty rugs and bath matts and dirty towels. Some simple upgrades would make it so much more comfortable and pleasant. For example, there is a window in the bedroom to the shared Jack and Jill bathroom and they taped a black garbage bag to it to block out the light. Yikes! There were cigarette butts littering the ground outside the front door. The bedroom windows let in tons of cold air. The kitchen is so dirty and the stove needs to be replaced—the handle to the kitchen sink fell off three times. The single use washer/dryer is useless—get a separate dryer that actually works and vent it properly. It takes 3 hours do dry a load of laundry. Cleanliness matters!

Joseph, I am sorry to hear that Casa Farellones did not meet your expectations. This being the first negative review we received in many years, I recently spent some time to inventory all our equipment. You are corrct that some is indeed getting a little tired, so I just placed orders to renew half of our stock of bath towels, all the bath mats, and despite no fault with the Euro style washer dryer combo ( beyond its medium capacity and 3 hour wash dry cycle) I also ordered an additional dryer unit. Appologies too about the temporary window light screen (garbage bag and tape), that I learned that the prior guests installed. We are going to build a permanent soloution. Sink tap (loose screw) fixed. Oven, can see no issues. Possibly the rolling power cuts ( after a freak storm that affected half the country) were the issue. As you may know we do have a back up generator, but that can only power lighting, heating pumps and refridgeration, heavy load electrical items like oven and clothes dryers will not work well on the back up power. One again my appologies. It would have been great had you discussed this all with me durng your stay.

First Trip to Farellones

If, like us, you are taking your first trip to Chile to ski the Tres Valles, Casa Farellones is an excellent choice for a home base. It is a 10-minute or less drive to each of La Parva and El Colorado, and a 25-minute drive to Valle Nevado (note these times without ski traffic; expect longer if you are headed to the resorts for first lift). The views from the home/hot tub are incredible, morning, evening and night (you can clearly see the lights of Santiago after the sun sets -- beautiful). We stayed on the ground floor of the house and it was very clean, spacious, well appointed and, most importantly, comfortable. William is an outstanding host and incredibly helpful with advice. His main caution, however, is that if you are planning to stay for a week, you have to either hire a cook/chef for the week or stop in Santiago to grocery shop. There are no grocery stores in Farellones (or at the resorts) but for very minimal provisions. Likewise, the restaurants in town are few and really "unspecial." This is a serious logistical challenge and one big drawback about staying at a house as opposed to one of the hotels in Valle Nevado. If, however, you are looking for a house, this is the place! I do not think there is another home of its quality that is centrally located to all three Tres Valleys resorts. We are headed back, but likely will have William arrange a chef next time!

Thnak you for that review Ken. We can cerainly arrange chefs for you next year and any guests who want them given some advance notice. I should however point out that many of our guests do chose to self cater and the house and kitchen is well equipped for those that choose that option as well.

Great home, central, private, host is amazing...

William is great. You get daily housekeeping. Internet is serviceable, location central. You should have a car and be a strong snow driver and know how to put on / off chains. Williams assistant Sak was super helpful with chains and other items like loading our car and being helpful with the wood fired grill, I had never used wood fired grill before, I'm never using charcoal again!!! Private and secluded. Very nice home. You won't be upset.

Best house for ski in Chile!

Its our 3rd time in CasaFarellones. We just love the place by its confort, view and localization. You can ski in 3 different ski resorts (La Parva, El Colorado and Valle Nevado) that are really close. I sugget to rent a van on Santiago, buy food and the good Chilean wine and stay ther for a week, as the kitchen is complete... don´t forget the sparkling wine for the hot tube after ski. Fábio (from brazil).;

Breath taking views. Amazing Chalet

Even before arriving Mr. William was very helpful with tips on what to take and when and where to go. Upon arrival they were waiting for us and helped us with our luggage. We had a couple of problems with the plugs of the house (Chilean Plugs). Again Mr. William immediately sent adapters. There was just enough snow for the kids to take lessons every day. The last three days we got 20" of powder. What an amazing vacation. Than-you, Thank-you, Thank-you.

Gabriela, I am so glad that everything worked out for you. I was a little worried with the unseasonably late start to the season, but El Colorado mountain, proved once again that they can make even a little snow work and were the first to fully open when the big snow arrived). Hope we will get to see you in Big Sky Montana this winter.

Great house, probably best skiing house near SCL

We stayed in early July and had a great time. The house is fully stocked - all you need is ski gear and food/drink. William is a great host and once he showed us the path to the resort (so you dont have to drive) we never touched our car again so get him to show you the route on day 1!!!

Good experience

We went to casa farellones lower appartment in the beginnig of september 09. We had a great experience because of all itens included in the appartament and kitchen stuff. The skis resorts are very good (good snow and variety of pistes and off-pists) and we advise you to shop every food and drink in Santiago and also hire a 4x4 car. The jacuzzi with wine was also very recommended!

My wife (Thai) and I (British) are semi retired and now divide our time between homes in Phuket, Thailand (our previous home/business base) and now, chasing the snow, in Big Sky Montana and Farellones, Chile.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

After several year of searching Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile for the best Southern hemisphere resort to build a vacation / retirement home (based upon quality of skiing, reliability of snow, access to shopping and services etc) we eventually decided upon Farellones at the end of the the 2001 ski season. Since Farellones filled all of our requirements, save for availability of attractive property to purchase, we bough land, hired and architect and did this the hard (but rewarding) way.

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig

The huge open spaces, the uncrowded ski area. Total peace and relaxation.
All home comforts brought to a relatively simple and underdeveloped area.
The Snow. The Sun. Sitting in the hot tub watching the Condors circling on the thermals as the sun sets over Santiago.
