Town: There is no better place to witness a breathtaking dawn than at Beaumaris, a famous mediaeval town on the Isle of Anglesey that sits on the Menai Strait and overlooks the Snowdonia mountain range. Historical landmarks include a Victorian pier, jail, and courthouse in addition to a mediaeval castle going back to the reign of Edward I; the area is also well-known as a major sailing centre. Historic Beaumaris still has several of its original mediaeval streets. The town's atmosphere, variety of architectural styles and periods, scale, open areas, roof types, and general quality all play significant roles. The town offers a variety of shopping, dining, and drinking establishments, as well as outdoor activities like fishing and boat tours and indoor activities like a golf course.
