Stylish accommodation in a peaceful, tucked away location

This was our second stay at The Bull Pen. The accommodation continues to be modern, airy and spacious and equipped with everything you need for a short break. We love the quiet location, surrounded by countryside, but only a couple of miles from the main road making exploring Kent and East Sussex very accessible. Would highly recommend this property!

Rural delight, great property and brilliant hosts

Idyllic stay in a high quality property

We loved our stay at The Bull Pen - beautifully appointed accommodation in a tranquil setting but convenient enough to explore the local area. We booked the property as we had a family celebration to attend nearby but would love to return for longer to be able to explore the area more fully. Highly recommended!

Hidden gem in Kent

Outstanding hideaway property, in a perfect central location to explore Kent. The Bull pen is is beautifully designed and finished with everything you will need for a comfortable stay.. The welcoming owner Trevor popped by on arrival and departure to make sure everything was ok. Overall,we had a great stay and would recommend the Bull pen to everyone.

Beautiful space in tranquil location

The Bull Pen has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The space is absolutely beautiful, tastefully done and to a very high standard. The garden is spacious and not overlooked and there are some lovely walks in the area. The location is perfect for exploring Kent by car. Jane and Trevor were very accommodating hosts. I definitely hope to return one day.

The Bull Pen - An absolute wonderful find in the heart of the Kent countryside!

We had a fantastic stay at The Bull Pen. It's a clean, modern and spacious property situated within wonderful surroundings. As we stayed during Christmas, the underfloor heating was most welcome and the beds were very comfortable. The complimentary Christmas Panettone was a lovely touch! There is also an adjoining property with the same layout, which have interconnecting gardens. We will defintley book again and whole experience with Bloom Stays was great. Thank you.

Disappointing Stay – Poor Cleanliness and Overpowering Scent

We were extremely disappointed with the cleanliness and presentation of this accommodation. On arrival, the property was dusty and cobwebby throughout with spiders in nearly every corner of the rooms. It was apparent that it had not been dusted properly for a long time. The main living area floor appeared unswept, and the bathroom was particularly unhygienic, with faeces and hair left on the toilet. These issues were serious enough that the owner had to attend in person to address them. The bedrooms were overwhelmed by a strong, artificial floral scent that caused headaches and discomfort. After searching for plug-in air fresheners or automatic diffusers, we discovered the smell was coming from the laundry detergent used on the bedding. It was so overpowering that it made the rooms unpleasant to sleep in. While we understand that welcome gifts are not obligatory, the absence of even a basic provision, such as a pint of milk, felt unwelcoming. Additionally, the welcome/information folder was not visible on arrival and had to be located by searching through drawers and cupboards. Overall, the experience fell far short of expectations. Cleanliness and comfort should be a given, and unfortunately, this property did not meet either standard.

Here at Bloom Stays we take cleanliness issues seriously and we understand the owner attended as soon as you requested and immediately dealt with the cobwebs and dust, although not all listed in this review were seen or discussed with the owner on arrival. All feedback has of course been passed along. Regarding the laundry detergent, this has never been mentioned before, if sensitive to smells please do get in touch before a stay so we can accommodate a non scented wash. We do try and make it clear in the listing that no supplies are in the self catering homes we offer and it is best to bring all store cupboards and fridge supplies needed when staying. We hope to welcome you back in the future and hope you still had a lovely holiday.

Great stay

We stayed at The Bull Pen for a second time, this time for a full week, and had a great time. The property is equipped with everything needed and looks even better than the photos. The location is idyllic with a lovely garden and beautiful farm setting - our children absolutely loved seeing all of the adorable lambs and so did we! Highly recommend and we intend to book again. Car essential.
