Town: St Dogmaels is a quaint and old community nestled peacefully around its ruined abbey at the mouth of the River Teifi on the wild west Wales coast. Y Felin, one of only two operational watermills in Wales, is one of the attractions. It still has the machinery built in 1820. The mill is considered to have been built by the monks of St Dogmaels' Abbey in the 12th century. The miller demonstrates how the mill works, and you may buy bread, flour, and cakes there, or visit the Coach House Café nearby for tea and cakes and light lunches. Every Tuesday, an award-winning local food market is held here, and it is well worth a visit. A pub, a fish and chip store, a Post Office, a cafe, and a small museum near the abbey are all located in the settlement. There's also a lovely green and a duck-filled millpond. Just over a mile away is Cardigan, a charming ancient market town.
