Hello Danielle, Thanks for your review. I am sorry that you seem to have had issues with your 2 night stay. We do try our very best to accommodate our guests as we do want them to have a good holiday. I think this is borne out by our reviews. I realise you had a long drive and didn’t arrive until almost midnight. I did have contact with you at this time re cleaning and endeavoured to rectify this as soon as possible for the next morning. The cleaner passed by 2 times and waited until you were awake at 11am. We also gave you your requested amount for a partial refund for any inconvenience caused. With regards to the property and room location and amenities etc. This is specified very clearly in the listing and photos eg. Bathroom shower room downstairs. This is better for cleaning kids and dogs !!Certainly we do not aim to hide anything. I am sorry that perhaps you have not looked at this and expected something different. There are many photos and captions. Most people come to the highlands a bit prepared in terms of arriving and supplies. It is self catering so yes food is not provided. Often the driving times are longer than google maps. With regards to remoteness in the Highlands Timber house has the best of both worlds (the views and the natural environment ) as well as being close to Dunvegan (7 min drive) have 2 supermarkets and a good few restaurants there. This is considered to be pretty good in the Highlands and Islands!! I realise this may be quite different from a city but this is why Skye is so remarkable. I am also sorry that you were cold - the house runs on a very common heating system which is electric. These have to be set just like any gas system. There is no gas on Skye. So that means that heating is on in the morning and evening at times which are very much normal, the hot water is on all day to make sure guests can have on demand (within reason as it is a water tank) . I do not set these differently for each stay but there is flexibility around this. I would have been very happy to resolve this as I don’t want guests to be uncomfortable but despite numerous conversations this was not requested, so I was not able to resolve this. I do hope you go on to have an enjoyable trip wherever you’re headed, and for sure if you do come back to Skye you have certainly gained practical experience of travelling in the highlands. Hi Marc. Thanks for your comments. Alex did come along when you were out and said he had fixed the problem - I did not hear any further comment from you so assumed it had been fixed. I am sorry for this. I also want to say that I made an exception for your group to stay only 3 nights - usually it is 4 as you seemed to be so enthusiastic. I guess I just want to say that usually problems are taken note of and fixed. I cannot fix issues when there is no update. Thanks juliet.

Dear Bryan thanks for your review. In response there was a blown fuse (which is very minor) this was tripping the electric fuse board. This is a safety response. Most houses do not operate at this level. There are hard wired alarms fitted in the house. There are very high safety standards in the house as it has to be licensed. Also the guy who came along promptly the next morning is a retired firefighter. I do understand that there are was some inconvenience and had given you a partial refund to reflect this. I am sorry but your review is exaggerated and not correct in terms of not having hot water until the third night and the house on fire etc. you complained that you’d had no hot water for the last 3 days and yet you’d only arrived the night before. We tried our best to rectify things very quickly. After an evening call someone was with you the next morning and electricians were called to safety check the house. I take the safekeeping of guests and house seriously. Best wishes. Juliet
