Eight of us stayed at South Point Abbey for two weeks. All of our needs were met by the very attentive staff, in particular Prageth, Nilusha and Sureth our chef. The house was always clean and the pool and garden areas immaculate. I was a bit shocked how busy the road outside was in 'rush hour' although the noise of the sea drowned this out. The food was always wonderful and Sureth gave us mini demonstrations which was great! The bedrooms were large and comfortable, the bathrooms spacious and the terraces perfect for reading or just chatting. Sonali, the owner, was a joy to deal with from start to finish. We did the Udawalawe safari, the elephant orphanage, the local tea plantation and Whale Watching from Mirissa. We went to Galle, the local town, and enjoyed good shops, restaurants and bars. Sri Lanka is a beautiful, lush country with much to enjoy. I found the local people always friendly and helpful, but found the roads pretty scary at times! If you want a really peaceful and relaxing holiday, I would thoroughly recommend South Point Abbey. However, beware that the sea was pretty rough and we saw lots of sea urchins!
